I had such high hopes for this book but it was so boring. Also I was at one point convinced it was a translation, as the writing felt so off. But it doesn't seem to be?

I really enjoyed this book. I came in expecting the worst based on the ratings. However, it had enough death, hope, explosions, science, space, emptiness, heartache, trials, emotional roller coasters, mental health issues, character development, and sci-fi for me to enjoy a 2 year overview of 6 young adults destined to go to space.
I don't know what more you expect out of a 500+ page book with 6-7 different viewpoints. It was a hell of a ride. Figuratively and literally. It has been a while since I read a book, and it played like a movie in my head.
