my kind of vampire book a main character with a lot of attitude and sass and who really believes in the vampire stuff anyway?

Such a fun read. Kim Pauley does an excellent job of getting into the mind of a teenage girl faced with the biggest descion of her life (or unlife): deciding whether or not to become a vampire like her parents. Oh, and then there's also best friends and boys and prom and dealing with snotty bullies - this is a wonderful depiction of teenage life, with a healthy dose of the paranormal thrown in. Great for someone who's looking for a vampire novel that's a little more fun and light-hearted.

The best part about this book is Mina Hamilton. I think she is hilarious, and very much a true teenage girl. The author did a great job with her, and I can't think of one thing I would change. The story itself was also good. I still think her allusions to (or, let's face it, blunt reminders of) pop culture were a little jarring, like she was trying too hard. I don't like it when authors stick bands or books or movies into their own narratives because it tends to age it so needlessly. Something like this might seem outdated in just a few months because the band or movie or book isn't popular anymore.
That said, I would really like to see what other books Kimberly Pauley releases next. I'd like to see if she can write something that's not quite so mainstream right now.

This is great for the YA reader who is having withdrawal symptoms coming down off the Twilight series. Teen vampires, relationships, the prom, immortality, drinking blood, getting hotter - this is all ground covered before by Stephenie Myers. New ground is broken by giving Mina, our teen protagonist, vampire parents and a solid, supportive family life. For a book about vampires, the story was very wholesome and affirming. Good for reluctant readers who might be put off by the girth of the Twilight series, but still have a taste for blood.

Mina has a secret, one she's kept her whole life. Her parents are vampires. What she doesn't know is they have a secret too - The Council of Vampires didn't know she existed. Then one night she opens the door and everything comes crashing down.
Now Mina has even more looming over her head besides school - she has to decide whether or not she should become a vampire. Upside, she'll get to stay in contact with her parents and the friends she's made in her vampire lessons. Downside, she'll never see her best friend again.
An amusing and entertaining story. Well-written and heartfelt.

This was a funny book. You can really get inside a teenage vampire's head. lol. I never though I could untill I read this book. I was never really intested in the subject of vampires but after I read this book, I found out some pretty cool stuff. I don't think everything they say is true but its fun to think about. Give it a try.

I really expected more than I got. The writing didn't seem at all thought out. I mean, the main villain just friggin' disappeared. That's not good writing :/

Eh.. It was exactly what I expected. Big personality main character.. Believable teens.. Life-altering decisions to be made. It just didn't excite me. The love triangle wasn't a triangle, but a many-sided beast.. And it was all totally predictable.
