Sucks to Be Me: The All-True Confessions of Mina Hamilton, Teen Vampire by Kimberly Pauley

4.0

The best part about this book is Mina Hamilton. I think she is hilarious, and very much a true teenage girl. The author did a great job with her, and I can't think of one thing I would change. The story itself was also good. I still think her allusions to (or, let's face it, blunt reminders of) pop culture were a little jarring, like she was trying too hard. I don't like it when authors stick bands or books or movies into their own narratives because it tends to age it so needlessly. Something like this might seem outdated in just a few months because the band or movie or book isn't popular anymore.

That said, I would really like to see what other books Kimberly Pauley releases next. I'd like to see if she can write something that's not quite so mainstream right now.
