This is great for the YA reader who is having withdrawal symptoms coming down off the Twilight series. Teen vampires, relationships, the prom, immortality, drinking blood, getting hotter - this is all ground covered before by Stephenie Myers. New ground is broken by giving Mina, our teen protagonist, vampire parents and a solid, supportive family life. For a book about vampires, the story was very wholesome and affirming. Good for reluctant readers who might be put off by the girth of the Twilight series, but still have a taste for blood.
