Humorous at times and had some interesting characters... Probably would have liked it better if I liked the main character. She was all soft and cried too much, and she sold her dog out too easily.

Like a previous reviewer, it took me about one hundred pages to get into this book. And once I did, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was enjoying the ride. Meena, the main female protagonist, has a lot of character, but it's her supporting cast that really rounds makes her much more likeable.

The storyline itself, which is a modern retelling of Dracula, was intriguing, but I did have some caveats. Namely, I never bought the "love" between Meena and this version's Dracula, Lucien; I can understand that, by being involved in a vampire, Meena might be under his spell, but other than Lucien being what Edward Cullen could never be, there was zero chemistry. Meena has far more chemistry with Alaric Wolf, the vampire slayer from the secret Vatican vampire slaying unit, the Palatine Guard. Granted, I imagined him as Alaric Salazar from The Vampire Diaries throughout most of the text, but Meena and Alaric's banter was definitely fun to read.

The end leaves room for a sequel, and I'd be interested in seeing the future adventures of Meena Harper, her brother Jon, and Alaric Wulf.

This is the first "vampire" book I was able to finish!
I picked it up because I LOVED reading Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries series so I knew the author didn't totally suck

I ended up really enjoying the book, thought at first it seemed to be moving fairly slow. By the end of the book I couldn't put it down.

This book was fantastic. I was reluctant to read it because I was over vampire books but I LOVED this. I loved the characters and found the story to be so refreshing. Such an interesting take on vampires and a nice bit of history too. I highly recommend this book! I would love to read a sequel.

If Carrie Bradshaw fell in love with Dracula in the streets of Manhattan, you'd probably end up with something very close to "Insatiable". Meg Cabot may be best known for her young adult fiction, but here she takes aim at the grown-up audience in a silly but engaging chick-lit vampire tale for the "Sex and the City" crowd.

Meena Harper writes dialogue for a popular TV soap opera which, in order to keep up in the ratings, has just decided to add a vampire story line. And, as Meena is quick to state -- loudly and often -- she is so, so sick of vampire stories. When a mysterious and dashing Romanian prince shows up on Park Avenue, however, all bets are off.

"Insatiable" features clever one-liners, a fast-paced adventure, lots of jabs at today's cultural obsession with vampires (especially the sparkly, angst-ridden types), and some enjoyable supporting characters.

This is a fun read, but not much more than that. I wouldn't put it on my can't-miss list. On the other hand, I do intend to read the sequel, so I guess I did enjoy it, pop-culture silliness and all.

My thoughts on this book can basically be summed up to: Vampire chick lit.

Meena is a great plucky heroine with a slight tinge of silliness and self doubt-- both making her more accessible and true to the chick lit genre. I like the tongue in cheekiness while totally serious tone of this one. Can't wait to read the next one.

Very average. The ending's terrible. The romance falls very flat.
