Bullocks!!!!! That was a seriously good book!!!!!!! Samantha Towle, where did you spring up from? You are my new favorite author. Below you will find out why but lets just get this over with first....
.......THE BAD
The editing is absolutely atrocious! I think a 5 year old was in charge of editing. I don't think I came across a book with so many errors but for me, it really didn't distract me from the story. Okay, now that I have forewarned everyone, lets continue on with......
.......THE GOOD
The sizzle between the two characters are electric. I loved every moment of this book. The beginning is a slow burn of flirting and romance. I love that! Characters and story development was so very progressive. There are so many things that transcribe throughout the book. It really does feel like I went on a journey with Jake and Tru. What I love most about this book is the beautiful romance and words Jake has. They melted me to the core.
I also like how the story doesn't really fit into the typical romance mold most books do. It follows it's own mold. I like that a lot because it had me second guessing.
Overall, a super sexy, hot, romantic book that will make you curl your toes.

Oh. My. God. I literally could not put this book down. I feel like such an idiot for thinking this book wasn't going to be anything special. It evoked so many emotions out of me: happiness, anger, sadness, pity, relief. I never knew a book could get me so riled up but The Mighty Storm did. I couldn't stop talking bout it and I know I pissed off some people with my constant rambling but it just couldn't be helped. This book was THAT good.
From the beginning I loved Tru. I love that she's half Spanish/half white like me and I just connected with her on so many levels. So when she did something that bothered me well, I just couldn't seem to let it go. I hated how Tru always tried to make herself seem like the victim! What she did was wrong and she knew it and instead of owning up to it she makes stupid excuses. For a big portion of the book I had a serious love/hate relationship with her. And when ironically it seemed the same thing would happen to her, I couldn't help but think she kind of deserved it. I know I'm probably speaking in riddles right now but I'm finding it really hard to right this review without spilling some spoilers. All I'm saying is: if you're looking for an angst fulled book, this is your book.
I fucking love Jake. I have from the first mention of him and no matter what he did, I was always on his side. I felt really bad for some of things he has to go through, especially when some of them could've been avoided (*cough* Tru!! *cough*). He does have a bit of a dark side though and when things get bad, it can get really ugly. But through it all, I couldn't help but love Jake even when I thought he did something unforgivable.
I still can not let go of how much I loved this book. There were times when I was yelling at my kindle and I was so mad, times where I couldn't help but tear up a little, but mostly there were times when I smiled. I haven't read a good angst filled book in a while so I kind of forgot how book like those tend to grab you in a choke hold and don't let go till the end. And there were times where I literally held my breath and didn't breathe till the scenes ended. I just...god, you have to read this yourself to truly understand.
I don't know why I waited so long to read this but I'm happy I finally did. I can not wait till the second book comes out! I heard that the books got signed and I couldn't be more happier for the author! The only down side is I have to wait longer for the book to come out, but I can wait :)
Pick this book up.
No matter what you're reading, stop and read this book because you will not be sorry.
If you love angsty romance, sexy rock stars and characters that know how to get under your skin in the worst and best way possible, this book is for you.

Oh this book! I wanted to love it so badly. I read so many wonderful reviews I was so excited when I came across it on audible. I love a good rocker romance, sadly this book did not hit the mark for me. Tru is probably one of the whiniest heroines I’ve ever read. The number of times she said something like, “I love him, but...” made me want to throw my phone across the room. The drama in this book was so frustrating! I actually found myself for the first time ever in a book rooting against the girl. She was just awful. Listening to this book only exasperated these feelings because the narrator’s voice was so incredibly whiny, especially when she is reading Tru’s thoughts. I kept pushing through hoping it would end better. I even read other reviews halfway through, thinking I can’t be alone in my feelings. I found several say the have a love/hate relationship with Tru and hold out it gets better. Nope. It has an HEA, but dear God what she put poor Jake through to get there just pisses me off! This won’t ruin it because the second books says they are engaged in the summary so I’ll share my thoughts on the awful final scene... Jake pours his heart out to her on stage, normally a big hit in rocker books, but whiny Tru has decided she doesn’t really like the fact that he is a rockstar and doesn’t think she can be the girlfriend of someone famous. Jake runs off stage and Tru tells him all this saying they won’t work. Then Jake pulls out THE ring she wanted and she is all “Jake is my future, I would never leave him! There is no one else for me! Oh baby I love you so much!” Like seriously! WTF is that! I would absolutely not recommend this book on audible unless you enjoy whining. If you don’t mind hating the main character then I’d suggested reading the story, not listening.

I really enjoyed the story and the characters had lots of lovely angsty chemistry, but a lot of spelling and basic grammar errors jolted me out of my enjoyment of the story. I'm not sure if I can survive the drama of the next story in this series!

Ahhh…The Mighty Storm. I waited to read you due to the overwhelming presence you have had on Goodreads and well you were worth the wait.
I will admit I am an angst whore; I just love it. It kills me to read it, to see the turmoil of choosing between two people you love and don’t want to hurt. It kills me so softly and I fall hard for these types of books. I will shamelessly admit that I fall for the “bad boy” each time. I close friend has called me out on this saying "You crack me up Sara. Get a hot guy that’s an absolute dick and you wanna jump him.” (Thanks Emily!) Yeah, that pretty much sums up how I feel about my tattooed bad boys in books, Jake had me on a rope right quick!
The world was on fire and no one could save me but you.
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do.
I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you.
And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you~Chris Isaak, Wicked Game
I love the history we get with Trudy and Jake in this book. I think it was needed seeing how fast their relationship moves. Another shtick I love in romance; friends to lovers. It is beyond awesome and it so works here.
Trudy and Jake grew up together, best friends and then Jake moves across the pond. They keep in contact for a spell and then nothing. Trudy has moved on, became a music journalist and up pops a great opportunity to rocket her career; a chance to interview the MANbehind The Mighty Storm; the successful and ultimately sexy Jake Wethers. HER JAKE, her best friend and boy/man she has loved for years. Holy Crap! Uh, one small problem…Trudy is in a relationship with sweet investment banker Will. What to do, what to do?
Of course sparks fly when Tru goes to interview Jake, how could they not? Years of unrequited love and sexual frustration come across the page and smack you on the behind. I nice smack I will say with a slight rub after to ease away the sting. When Tru is invited to go on tour with The Mighty Storm to write their Bio; the clouds roll in, lighting strikes; things get tumultuous, hot, sticky, wet and messy! Sigh, did I mention how I love the Angst.
I hurt myself today,
To see if I'd still feel.
I focus on the pain,
The only thing that's real.
The needle tears a hole,
The old familiar sting;
Try to kill it all away,
But I remember everything.
If I could start again,
A million miles away,
I would keep myself,
I would find a way. ~Nine Inch Nails, Hurt
One of my favorite things about this book, aside from Jake and his snake, is the music. I am a HUGE music fan and self professed snob. Samantha Towle has done a gorgeous job of incorporating music into this story, to help tell the story. It’s not just the fictional songs of a fictional band; she inserts wonderful songs from brilliant artist. I could hear each song as it was presented and FELT each word. The placement was brilliant!
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss… It was only a kiss
Now they're going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it's all in my head
But she's touching his chest now
He takes off her dress now Let me go
And I just can't look it's killing me
And taking control~The Killers, Mr. Brightside
While I loved Jake, I also really liked Trudy. I know some don’t agree with what she did/does and thinks she needs a good shake and while I see their point I felt something for the girl. I felt like she could have been me, had I a gorgeous rock star best friend who definitely wanted in my knickers! When it comes to matters of the heart decisions are not always based on rational thoughts and actions are proven to be shaky and consequential. Sometimes a girl needs a good talking to, a strong shake or one hell of a sexy barefoot dance in a club with a man who learned his moves…well. Read the book for the rest of that line!
It makes me see what I want to see
and be what I want to be
When I think more than I want to think
Do things I never should do
I drink much more that I ought to drink
Because (it) brings me back you...
Lilac wine is sweet and heady, like my love
Lilac wine, I feel unsteady, like my love
Listen to me... I cannot see clearly
Isn't that she coming to me nearly here?
Lilac wine is sweet and heady where's my love?
Lilac wine, I feel unsteady, where's my love?
Listen to me, why is everything so hazy?
Isn't that she, or am I just going crazy, dear?
Lilac Wine, I feel unready for my love...~Jeff Buckley, Lilac Wine
Jake and Tru have a wonderful story; one that had me reading while making dinner and until midnight to finish the book. Their story is sweet, sexy, romantic, frustrating and plain old HOT! Oh, I forgot to mention Will. Not really, totally being honest here. Though he was a significant person in this love triangle he wasn’t present enough for me to actually factor him in. It is pretty hard to see anything but Jake when he is in the room or on the page. Not that I forgot he was there, the coffee shop scene was heart wrenching, I was just lost in Jake…all that is JAKE!
So if you can’t tell I enjoyed myself thoroughly with The Mighty Storm. I fell for Jake hard from the beginning and even with that lovely surprise at the end; this song says it best…
I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no girl reaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no~The Rolling Stones, Satisfaction

I can't express just how brilliant this book is!! 30 odd pages in and I felt like I had known the characters all my life. Tru and Jake are wonderful! My heart however is possibly scarred for life. At one point it was shattered all over the floor. Serious ugly cry moment in front of my kids (who now think I'm insane lol). From beginning to end this book was spectacular, and I will be recommending it to everyone. Frankly I wish there was a more than 5 ⭐️ option on here cause this deserves way way more than 5!
