The Mighty Storm by Samantha Towle
5.0
Oh. My. God. I literally could not put this book down. I feel like such an idiot for thinking this book wasn't going to be anything special. It evoked so many emotions out of me: happiness, anger, sadness, pity, relief. I never knew a book could get me so riled up but The Mighty Storm did. I couldn't stop talking bout it and I know I pissed off some people with my constant rambling but it just couldn't be helped. This book was THAT good.
From the beginning I loved Tru. I love that she's half Spanish/half white like me and I just connected with her on so many levels. So when she did something that bothered me well, I just couldn't seem to let it go. I hated how Tru always tried to make herself seem like the victim! What she did was wrong and she knew it and instead of owning up to it she makes stupid excuses. For a big portion of the book I had a serious love/hate relationship with her. And when ironically it seemed the same thing would happen to her, I couldn't help but think she kind of deserved it. I know I'm probably speaking in riddles right now but I'm finding it really hard to right this review without spilling some spoilers. All I'm saying is: if you're looking for an angst fulled book, this is your book.
I fucking love Jake. I have from the first mention of him and no matter what he did, I was always on his side. I felt really bad for some of things he has to go through, especially when some of them could've been avoided (*cough* Tru!! *cough*). He does have a bit of a dark side though and when things get bad, it can get really ugly. But through it all, I couldn't help but love Jake even when I thought he did something unforgivable.
I still can not let go of how much I loved this book. There were times when I was yelling at my kindle and I was so mad, times where I couldn't help but tear up a little, but mostly there were times when I smiled. I haven't read a good angst filled book in a while so I kind of forgot how book like those tend to grab you in a choke hold and don't let go till the end. And there were times where I literally held my breath and didn't breathe till the scenes ended. I just...god, you have to read this yourself to truly understand.
I don't know why I waited so long to read this but I'm happy I finally did. I can not wait till the second book comes out! I heard that the books got signed and I couldn't be more happier for the author! The only down side is I have to wait longer for the book to come out, but I can wait :)
Pick this book up.
No matter what you're reading, stop and read this book because you will not be sorry.
If you love angsty romance, sexy rock stars and characters that know how to get under your skin in the worst and best way possible, this book is for you.
