The Mighty Storm by Samantha Towle
1.0
Oh this book! I wanted to love it so badly. I read so many wonderful reviews I was so excited when I came across it on audible. I love a good rocker romance, sadly this book did not hit the mark for me. Tru is probably one of the whiniest heroines I’ve ever read. The number of times she said something like, “I love him, but...” made me want to throw my phone across the room. The drama in this book was so frustrating! I actually found myself for the first time ever in a book rooting against the girl. She was just awful. Listening to this book only exasperated these feelings because the narrator’s voice was so incredibly whiny, especially when she is reading Tru’s thoughts. I kept pushing through hoping it would end better. I even read other reviews halfway through, thinking I can’t be alone in my feelings. I found several say the have a love/hate relationship with Tru and hold out it gets better. Nope. It has an HEA, but dear God what she put poor Jake through to get there just pisses me off! This won’t ruin it because the second books says they are engaged in the summary so I’ll share my thoughts on the awful final scene... Jake pours his heart out to her on stage, normally a big hit in rocker books, but whiny Tru has decided she doesn’t really like the fact that he is a rockstar and doesn’t think she can be the girlfriend of someone famous. Jake runs off stage and Tru tells him all this saying they won’t work. Then Jake pulls out THE ring she wanted and she is all “Jake is my future, I would never leave him! There is no one else for me! Oh baby I love you so much!” Like seriously! WTF is that! I would absolutely not recommend this book on audible unless you enjoy whining. If you don’t mind hating the main character then I’d suggested reading the story, not listening.
