Probably a good book to many, but just not the kind of book I like. I don't like the writing style I think. It has a sort of dreamy feel, and I like things I can pin down.

Alice Hoffman returns to finish Green's story of renewal and coping for good this time. While Green Angel was about the titular character's grief and how she overcame it, Green Witch is about the titular character helping others overcome their own grief, and through it all how she came to plant the seeds of a new life. Green is living well enough in her garden, the community of survivors of the fire in the first book are getting along slowly, until one day Green stumbles across a being known as The Finder. The Finder sets Green off on a journey to uncover the stories of the witches that live on the outskirts of her village, but the road leads her to reclaim loved ones she thought she lost.
Again, it IS Alice Hoffman, so the writing style is either a hit or a miss for readers. If you're not a fan of her writing, much less the first book, then you'll not enjoy this. Also, like the first book, it is a very light, very easy read. You could probably sit down and clear this if you had an afternoon to kill. I liked it just as much as the first book, but in all honesty it's not for everyone. If you like the kinds of books that use the emotions of the characters to heavily tell the story, rather than tons of action and scenery description, then you'll probably enjoy this. Since it's a sequel, and one that relies heavily on throwbacks to the first book, I definitley wouldn't recommend if you're unfamiliar with both Hoffman's writing or the first story. I recommend Incantation if you've never read any of this author's work before, rather than this or Green Angel. It's a little heavier of a read and the overall setup isn't as extreme in terms of character (aka character tattooing thorns and bats all over her body to express her anger and grief and a half of a heart when her love interest leaves her).
All in all, decent, but for already established Hoffman and Green fans.

It's such a beautiful book, I actually started crying when reading it. I used to love Alice Hoffman, now I just adore her and hope that I came become this great of an author.

That was a nice surprise!
I read the first book and didn’t really enjoy it, it wasn’t for me. I wasn’t really planning to read this one but I needed a quick (at work) read and remembered that I have this book in my Kindle, to my surprise it was nice and sweet but sorrowful (didn't expect it to make me tear up at work lol), I’m glad I gave it a chance <3.

It still amazes me beyond belief how Alice Hoffman can craft such a perfect novel in little over a hundred pages. GREEN WITCH is haunting, beautiful, and enchanting. To be honest, I had my doubts when starting this book, similar to the doubts I had when I started to read GREEN ANGEL. I questioned the book's ability to properly execute a plot and develop its characters. But after the first few pages, I was hooked and I knew that I was going to love it.
Hoffman's writing is simply beautiful. Despite the ugly landscape that Green's world has been transformed into, Hoffman is able to make it pretty through her use of vivid descriptions and imagery. The story was captivating and all the characters that Green meets along the way are interesting and full of life. The book gives you an appreciation for nature's beauty and fills you up with hope and determination.
GREEN WITCH is a light and quick read. Fans of GREEN ANGEL will not be disappointed, and for those new to the series, I strongly recommend that you pick up the first book!

For some reason the quality of this book reminded me of Invitation to the Game by Monica Hughes. Totally different story here; Green is recovering from the sudden brutal loss of her family and the betrayal of the man she met shortly afterward. By taking ownership of the stories around her, including her own, she is able to come to terms with both her grief and the betrayal.
My favorite theme in this book was the one about stories and story collection. The plot was a little thin, but I thought the book itself was enjoyable to read and the character of Green was solid and well-written.

Alice Hoffman's books come off as extended short stories to me.
