I just finished and my emotions are still so raw. This book made me feel so much. At times I was smiling and laughing; at times I was so frustrated and wanted to bang my head against the wall; and at other times I was so overcome with emotion, I could hardly catch my breath. Jewel is a master at her craft and I am in awe of her talent. Henna and Bodhi. Bodhi and Henna. I’m pretty sure their story will stick with me for quite some time.

I remember the main character being extremely immature and frustrating. Although, I appreciated her taking the time to travel and grow up and then being reunited with Bohdi.
General note: I will say this, Ann's books are some of the most realistic romances I've read. They don't sugarcoat matters, they have many ups and downs, resembling real life, and can be heartbreakingly real at times. A bit too real for me at the time of reading. I was looking for escapism and her books were rooted a bit to close to reality.
That being said, I do believe she is a great writer. Her books, I think, center more around self-discovery and the curveballs that life throws at us, than actual romance.

“Fate is nothing more than another word for happiness. We’re more than fate. We sound like something undeniable–Romeo and Juliet, Johnny and June, Beyonce and Jay Z…Henna and Bodhi.”
“I’m not living. You told me to live. I’m dying. I’ve been dying every day since the accident.” Except for Bohdi. With Bohdi, I live. I breathe. I dream. I imagine. I’m limitless with him.”
“The Law of Henna and Bohdi: When love breaks, fall inward, fall together, and fall hard. Then let time pick up the pieces.”
“Love is not a rational emotion. It jumps out of planes and dives off cliffs. It leaves a permanent mark on everything it touches.”
“I want him to want me. Like the epic kind of love where he comes for me. The kind where he doesn’t take no for an answer. The kind that involves begging and groveling. I want him to chase me. Need me. I want him to hold me in his arms the way I’ve held him in my heart.”
A Place Without You was one of my most anticipated reads and let me tell you it does not disappoint! I mean, what a way to kick off 2019, than with a book that totally knocks your socks off and takes your heart for one heck of a ride. This book was everything and then some. It was more than I ever anticipated and gave me more feels than my poor heart can possibly handle.
A Place Without You is an epic and unforgettable love story. It is a story of young love and discovery. It is a story of pain and heartache. It is life changing and consuming. The writing is addictive and will leave you hanging on every word. So much heart and emotion went into this story, you can literally feel the emotions bursting from the pages. For me, A Place Without You is the kind of story you want to devour, yet find yourself wanting to savor every last word so that the story doesn’t have to end.
Bodhi and Henna are unlike any characters I’ve ever met. Their connection was instant, yet filled with such ease. They were truly like magnets. A force to be reckoned with. They were destined to be in each other lives, no matter what life threw at them. I picture Henna as this young bohemian girl, with her whole life ahead of her. Just living in the moment and unafraid to take chances. She was the definition of free. She was everything the Bodhi needed, but felt like he didn’t deserve. You see, Bodhi made a lot of mistakes in his life and let his guilt dictate his every move. Being with Henna was like a dream come true. A chance at happiness and love. Henna saved Bodhi even when he didn’t know he needed saving.
The road to HEA wasn’t an easy one at all for these two characters. Life threw a lot of obstacles their way, giving them an unforgettable love and then snatching it away. Their love was forbidden, Yet it was real and pure. It was beautiful and heartbreaking. It was the kind of love everyone wants and that is worth fighting for. So, yeah, their relationship wasn’t easy, but for me, it was so worth the journey.
A Place Without You is the story I never saw coming. It just consumed me and I wanted to live within the pages of Bodhi & Henna’s story. These characters are so real, so raw, so complicated and so beautifully broken. Their story is angsty. It’s romantic. It’s just everything. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll get angry. You’ll swoon one minute and have your heart broken the next. I found myself highlighting so many passages so I wouldn’t forget a single moment. Bodhi and Henna’s story took me on the most amazing journey and I know their story will be staying with for a very long time.
To sum it up, A Place Without You is everything. It’s beautiful. It’s painful. It’s a story of loss, pain and forgiveness. It’s a story of finding yourself and living the life you were always meant to have. It’s a story of first love and first everything. It’s a story of risks and chances. A story of epic and unforgettable love…..

Wow
What a powerful, emotional experience. This book was life, and my heart wants more. I don’t want to be done with this book, I can see it being one I come back to read later and i don’t normally reread books. Thank you for gifting us with such a powerful story!

A Place Without You laid claim to my heart—pure and simple. In return, it generously gave me all the feels in which I am still happily reveling.
The unforgettable characters are painted with strikingly bold colors. People around Henna can’t help but get swept up in her vortex of eccentric charm. Her infectious free spirit can’t be contained inside her 19-year-old body. I point out her age partly because I’m not comfortable with forbidden student-teacher romances involving minors, so that isn’t an issue here. Henna’s age also speaks to her mindset. She is more worldly than most 19-year-olds, but there are parts of Henna that are immature, and she has escapist tendencies that allow her to avoid painful emotions. I love that she recognizes these traits and that the reader is allowed to watch her struggle with her areas of growth.
Bodhi is Henna’s opposite. She tends to be irresponsible while he is extremely cautious. He is patience and goodness personified. Henna constantly pushes him outside of his comfort zone, and he is at his sexiest when he surrenders and lets loose. They are electric together.
Some of my favorite parts of the book are those that take place at Coachella. The atmosphere is almost tangible—fun, romantic, and exciting. I felt like I was someplace magical where lifelong connections can be made in a matter of hours.
The supporting characters are highly developed and integral to the story. I was incredibly moved by the ferocity of Bodhi’s love for his father, a remarkable man in is own right. I wish I could be a mom that’s half as cool as Juni. Yes, she is Henna’s mom, but she is also her very best friend and a constant source of nonjudgmental support.
If you’ve read any of Jewel E. Ann’s books it would not surprise you to know that she dishes out humor and passion in one hand and punches you in the gut with the other. Consider this my public service announcement to have some tissues on hand. Hang on and enjoy this powerful romance.

This was an amazing read. The story was the romance between Bodhi and Henna. It was a student-teacher relationship story. I loved every minute of it. Henna and Bodhi were marvelous characters. Their love and passion for one another was a pure enjoyment to read. Bodhi's dad is another character that I loved. I loved the relationship between Bodhi and his dad. They loved each other and been through a lot together. Also, I loved the friendship between Bodhi's dad and Henna. This was a page-turner type love story that was filled with romance, and passion. I am now a fan of Jewel E. Ann. I cannot wait to read more of her books in the future. Overall, an incredible read.

I don’t know how to review this one. I’m a mess. Like, so much emotional water coming out of my eye holes throughout the whole freaking book. I was kinda in a book slump and I love this author words, so much. I just dove right in so I didn’t know what I was getting into. Cheese and rice this book made me feel so much, and ugh, I hate feeling things. But g-dang I’ll always remember this story. It’s sad, heartbreaking, emotional, beautiful and full of love. Sooooo much love. I absolutely love Henna and Bodhi. Their love was extremely messy at times but boy their love for each other was strong enough to get them through anything. I don’t know, I’m all over the place. I’m blaming my yucky emotions. My cold dead heart can’t take it. Gah, each book just keeps getting better and better.

Have you read Jewel E Ann before? If so you know you are in for one amazing ride. Now 'amazing' has a scale to it. So what one (me) finds amazing others might find not so amazing. Your heart will go through the wringer/ringer (not sure which term is appropriate here).
I will state this is becoming one of my favorite tropes. As long as it's done in this fashion. Meeting before the trope comes to pass.
What a 'meet cute' this is too. A ride share. The insta-love was done perfectly. (which sometimes I'm not a fan of b/c how not well it's done) You will swoon over Bodhi and you will fall in love with Henna. Gotta love a straight talking, no shit taking, heroine.
In true #JewelEAnnEffect your heart will hurt. Your eyes will cry. Your blood will pound and you will read faster.
~I won a signed paperback.

This was a good one. I didn't need tissues that others said I would need. But that's OK bc this was still sad and beautiful. It did have some lag moments when Henna traveled, and I loved the surprise we learned about Bohdi. Still a great story to check out.
