This book is geared at the preteen. The nice thing is that topics are briefly discussed and cover a lot of different concerns.
Overall the book is fine, though I would prefer if it were a little less look centric.

I read this book as part of research for work. I found it to be pretty wholesome and informative. It’s not perfect but it’s a good starting point when talking to to preteens about their bodies.

This has been an invaluable resource for my girls once they were ready. It's perfect for the prepubescent girl with lots of questions. This book became the springboard for many conversations, as well as a guide for the girls to reference when needed. It's age appropriate and includes the care of the entire girl--from head to toe, inside and out.

A wild book to get when you’re 10, but this book was so great at respectfully explaining your changing body, and growth! I will definitely use these in the future for my own kids!

True story: I never got a single talk about puberty from anyone, but my Mom did buy me this book so I wouldn't be totally clueless. Awkward memories aside, it actually does cover a large portion of what young girls should know about their bodies.

The cover of this book is the early 2000's version and is illustrated much better than the newer one, which was re-illustrated to basically blur all the body parts, especially the vagina, a key area in female puberty. As much as I love AG, this book does not cover a lot of things I find important, like sexual harassment, abuse and dealing with sexual desires. It talks a lot about being "moody" and that can mean just about anything when you're growing up.
Very disappointed with the makeover of this book. They managed to make this book even more vague than the original and this book made me want to ask more questions than it answered. They also added a variation for older girls which adds the bonus of how to use tampons in the same vague illustrations. At least the original was one book and it had a pretty good diagram about tampon use.
Now that they have split the same information into two books with little variation and those same crappy illustrations, I will not bother to buy this book in either form

sufficient, but as others have said, empty in other ways more relevant to modern young girls.

A comprehensive book about growing up for girls. The book says for ages 8+, but it will depend on the girl. I felt like it didn't go into as much detail as the boy version. For example, the drawings about the menstrual cycle were very minimal and there was no mention about changes in the vulva at all. This book leaves out conversations about trans or nonbinary individuals. It also may have too much information for someone who is neurodivergent or has a learning disability. Despite these issues, I would recommend this book for a majority of girls as a way for parents to start conversations about growing up.
