The Care & Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls by Valorie Schaefer

3.0

The cover of this book is the early 2000's version and is illustrated much better than the newer one, which was re-illustrated to basically blur all the body parts, especially the vagina, a key area in female puberty. As much as I love AG, this book does not cover a lot of things I find important, like sexual harassment, abuse and dealing with sexual desires. It talks a lot about being "moody" and that can mean just about anything when you're growing up.

Very disappointed with the makeover of this book. They managed to make this book even more vague than the original and this book made me want to ask more questions than it answered. They also added a variation for older girls which adds the bonus of how to use tampons in the same vague illustrations. At least the original was one book and it had a pretty good diagram about tampon use.
Now that they have split the same information into two books with little variation and those same crappy illustrations, I will not bother to buy this book in either form
