Another light, enjoyable entry in the Murder She Wrote series. In this book, Jessica travels to Hawaii to help teach a workshop on criminology. While there she meets a young woman who is a professor at the college where she is teaching who later ends up dead. Of course Jessica ends up spending her vacation solving the murder. Was the young woman killed by a lover, a competitive colleague, or someone working against her on a project she was challenging to build a telescope on a volcano revered by the Hawaiian people? One thing I always enjoy about these books is the descriptions of food and meals - they always make me hungry. In this book, there are many references to drinking pineapple iced tea which sounds like something I will have to try.

Cozy and fun mystery; I loved the setting and the full cast of characters. I was left guessing until the end, and what an ending it was. The perfect audiobook as a companion to my walks!

This was another fun MSW mystery. My favorite aspect of this story was the setting...Maui. What's not to love about that? :) The mystery of what caused a young college professors death: accident or murder was intriguing and full of likable (mostly) characters was an extremely enjoyable read. Looking forward to my next mystery with the incomparable Jessica Fletcher!!

I can't seem to stop myself from reading the books in this series. And even though the book series is not as good as the TV series, I still enjoy them. They are usually just an easy, interesting and fun read and this was no exception. Not the best installment of the series, but not the worst.

I enjoy the novels where Jessica is in Cabot Cove surrounded by all her friends but a good portion of the time Jessica is off on an adventure that takes her to all manner of interesting locales. In this case, the beautiful island of Maui with all its breathtaking scenery and deep history makes a startling contrast to the violent act of murder.

Mike Kane was an interesting character and I sort of wished he wasn't tucked in so far away from Maine, because I wouldn't mind hearing from him again. He was a bright spot in an otherwise tepid mystery plot that was enjoyable all the way up until the end when it veered off course with an outlandish conclusion, and a few too many loose threads hanging. Of course in real life we can't always have everything wrapped up in a neat little bow, and I suppose in the end some of those lingering questions didn't really matter since the murderer was caught, and we presume justice will be served. However, I would have liked the victim's reputation and character vindicated as well. So, I ended up feeling “at sixes or sevens” about how things turned out.

All the same, it was good to touch base with Jessica again and here's hoping she will stay in Cabot Cove for the next Murder, She Wrote mystery coming soon!

This was a very fun mystery! It was my first Murder She Wrote (book OR episode) and I'm not sure if they're all as educational as this. If you are familiar with Hawaiian culture and customs this might seem tedious, but I found it helpful, and it seemed to have some good non-colonialist representation (of course, not being Hawaiian, I might be wrong, and am happy to be corrected). The only thing I didn't like was Jessica's near-constant apologies for an overly-friendly man throughout the book.
