This is my first Threads series book and I wasn’t sure what I was going to be reading. The drama of who killed Akira’s sister was interesting but I was more invested in the romance. How could a relationship that started as a lie work? Would it work? I had to keep reading to find out.
I loved the characters. Akira was intriguing. Her skills as an assassin made her dangerous, thrilling, and an unknown. I wasn’t always sure if she was being truthful about her intentions and found many times that I doubted that she even knew what she was hoping to happen. Devon was great. There were times I thought he was a tad naïve. He fell for Akira quickly and seemed to just believe everything she told him. His aunt and uncle were hilarious. I laughed at Paul’s head in the sand attitude. He seemed to accept everything at face value and not want to make waves. Sara was crazy. There is no other way around it. From the very beginning she was off her rocker and full of drama.
There were times I felt the story was a little slow with a little too much weird conversation between characters but just as that thought came along the story seemed to pick up and I was flipping pages unable to put the book down. I’d recommend picking up your own copy and enjoying the cruise with Akira, Devon, and the rest of the gang.

I did not know this book was part of a series. Yet, I was able to read it as a stand alone novel. Instantly, I connected with Akira as a human being and not just an assassin. The conflict that Akira endured under her boss's rule is real; especially when she met Devon. I felt Akira growing weary of being an assassin and craving a "normal" life and companionship.
Part of the classification of this novel is erotic. When it came to this aspect, it was tasteful without being overly assertive. Devon and Akira were not just about the sex. They both had emotions thrown into the ring and thus making what they felt for each other real. Yet, my only slight complaint would be that it felt like the story moved a little slowly in revealing Akira's mission. The vibe of the story did not pick up under more then half way through the story. Overall, through I enjoyed this book a lot and want to go back and read the prior novels to see Akira's journey from the beginning.

This book had some interesting parts but it wasn't really my cup of tea. The writing was good but the story just didn't capture my full attention. I was easily distracted while read it and found it hard to read at times. Some of the characters were likable while others weren't. I have not read this author before and I am not sure I will again. I think others will enjoy it a lot more than I did.

An action thriller-cum-shipboard romance? Hmmm, maybe, generally this isn't my first choice for a light read, but I'll give it a chance. Add a lovely Yakuza assassin as the main character? Okay, I am there. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but this was a good read and the main characters caught my attention and had me hoping the best for them through all the twists and turns of the shipboard mystery unfolding around them. This would make a great beach read!

Twisted Threads by Kaylin McFarren is volume four in her Threads series. In this book, we are immediately thrown into the deep with Akira. She has just completed another mission and is cleaning up the aftermath of the job. Soon she is tasked with a new mission. She is to kill her boss's sister's murderer or her life will be the penance that she pays for her failure. First, she must figure out who is the murderer, but she will need to get close to the nephew of Sara and Paul to learn who the killer possibly is. Now the question remains, will she be able to succeed or will new path open for her to take?
Twisted Threads by Kaylin McFarren is the first book that I have read by this author. I have at least one of the books in this series but have not had the time to read it yet. After reading this book, however, I intend to go back and start from the beginning. Right from the beginning, the author hooks me into the story. This book immediately becomes hard to put down. It is fast paced, very well balanced and with characters who pull you in.
There honestly isn't anything that I don't like about this book. Despite not having read any of the books previously in this series I was able to follow along with what is going on in the story and I really appreciate that.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. For those who have read the series to this point, I recommend reading this book. If you are new to the series, I still suggest you pick this book up. It's engaging and interesting.

This was such a wild ride! I loved the setting of this book...I'm always on the lookout for "cruise" books as cruise ships are such exciting and fun environments with so much to do. This was by far the best "cruise" book I've ever read. It's full of twists and turns, action, and adventure.
This is the fourth book in a series and there were a few times that I was a bit confused due to lack of background knowledge but for the most part, this would definitely work as a standalone. I wasn't expecting the erotic parts of the book and they were the only thing I disliked about the book as erotica isn't my cup of tea (but I think that those that enjoy erotica would enjoy them).
Overall, this was a very well written book with great characters and a very fun setting. I would definitely pick up more books by this author.

Multiple murders, suspenseful writing, several plot twists... all within the confined space (and time) of cruise ship. Easy read, but I didn’t overly enjoy the book.
