Finally I got a chance to read the first book in the Feline Breed series. I have been curious about Callan and Merinus for a long time and now I want to play catch up with all the others that I have missed.
All I can say is Callan is pretty WOW and so is Kane Tyler. Man, Lora Leigh really knows hot to build them Ford tough.

In Tempting the Beast, Marinus Tyler is a reporter out to get Callan Lyon's support in exposing genetic experiments involving crossing human and animal DNA to create soldiers. It turns out they are mates, and because of some weird hormone thing they are in a mating frenzy, which basically means they have to have sex several times a day.
I liked this story, but didn't love it. The sex scenes were so-so. I gave it 4 stars because I think it is a very interesting premise for a book series, and I look forward to seeing where the author takes this idea.
There was one part of the story I found a bit irksome. Marinus is absolutely independent, fiersely opposing this hormonal attraction she has with Callan. There is no emotional connection between them, at least none that was adequately described in the book. Then in the next chapter, she is telling him she loves him and loved him since the first time she saw him in a photograph. I don't buy it. But other than that I found the story enjoyable.

This one was more erotica than romance, but it was an okay beginning. Ellora Cave books are kind of crude and not smooth with their sexy.
In this book, Merinus Tyler, a young journalist, was sent to make contact with Callan Lyons, in order to bring him for questioning and protection.
See Callan Lyons is an experimental being, part man, part lion and he was born of a secret research lab experiment with humans and animal species.
Someone is hunting these new creations, and the Tyler family is offering them protection if they go "public" about the experiments. When Callan and Merinus meet, there was combustion of pheromones resulting in a "mating frenzy" so they had to be going at it all the time.
On top of that, they had to figure out who murdered Maria, Callan's surrogate mom, and who is trying to hunt the rest of his feline family. So what we have here is Lots of Sex and a murder mystery.
the writing was okay, nothing spectacular. The plot and storyline felt very familiar as I am also reading the New Species series by Laurann Dohner. I prefer that one because the humans "voluntarily" fall in love with the genetically engineered man, as opposed to being forced together by intermingling pheronomes. I will continue this series and see how far i get before I get annoyed by the crude/vulgar dialogue.

I was going to just bare through it, but I couldn't do. I had to stop at 'i want to lap every bit of your cream...' Seriously! Also, must we use the HIGHLY inappropriate 'C' word? Honestly, I haven't been grossed out by a book before, but this one takes the cake. Ugh!

I've been interested in this series for a while now. Normally, the whole "made into paranormal creature by science" isn't quite my thing, but hey. Why not give it another go? Overall, I liked it, though I did find the declaration of love came out of nowhere. Due to Callan and Merinus having a mate bond, there was A LOT of love scenes in here, given the way mating works in this world. I loved that Merinus was strong and held her own. She was even funny at times. Callan was proud and intelligent, and he suffered greatly from what he and his family went through. There was a secondary romance in here that I'm interested to see play out, and the plot with the Council and Callan deciding on whether or not to accept the help of Merinus and her family by coming forward with his story kept things interesting.

Well what can I say? This book was incredible... If you were into a lot of sex. Don't read it for the storyline if that was what you had intended because honestly, I skimmed over it to get to Leigh's take on really hot erotica! Having said certain aspects of sex scenes really freaked me the fuck out especially at the beginning, this was my first body function modified character I have ever read about so I was a little shocked. This didn't change the fact that I liked the writing style and how Leigh portrays sex and I plan on reading the rest of the series to see how it goes.

I was definitely entertained with this story! The New Species series is in a similar vein but Lora Leigh’s love scenes tend to be a bit more intense. However, I tend to connect more with the New Species characters. There were some nice surprises in the plot that I didn’t see coming and I’m interested to see where the series goes.

I very much like this series. I have literally been breezing through it and like how Lora Leigh is able to create an entirely new species and make it believable. I am now on book 11 of this series and can say without a doubt that she is able to make the story flow and continue without a problem.
In Tempting the Beast, we are introduced to a new world where the a group called The Genetics Council that is made up of very powerful people, were able to splice animal DNA with that of a human's and create a new species. The character development is amazing and I like how the characters still stay true to themselves no matter the dangers they face.
The only warning I would give is that if you don't enjoy novels with dominating males, then this series is not for you. There are both male and female Breeds (the animal human mix) but because of the animal instinct, the males always feel the need to dominate their women at some point of the novel.
