Haven't read any of the other books, so I was approaching this as an intro (since I saw it listed as a prequel for Farseer trilogy) and I liked it.

In typical Hobb fashion this book grabbed me by the throat and just when I thought all was lost, let go and pulled me into a warm embrace. How on earth does she make me care so much about these characters with only 150 pages?? And how does such a gruesome book feel so tender?
Robin Hobb is a witch I’d gladly follow into a crumbling castle.

I don't think this is the best Hobb book i've read yet, it didn't flow as well as some of the books and at times felt a bit repetitive.
I thought the story was very interesting and am glad to have the world fleshed out more.
I'm looking foward to getting back to the world of Fitz and the Fool, especially with this new knowledge on Witted ones.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These reviews are all my own opinion and a reflection of my personal tastes and mood at the time of reading, NOT a reflection of the books plot or authors ability.

Also Robin Hobb: *completely wrecks my shit in the span of a novella*

As seen from the edges
A book that shows the court of the Farseers as seen from the eyes of a servant. Sad, and worth the time.

This book is only for those who have read the Farseer series. The whole novella is nothing more than a detailed explanation of something that occurs in the main series. Though I liked most of the book, and I think it's very well-written, I felt the ending was pointless and depressing. It left me extremely unsatisfied. I think if I had read the plot point from within the series this book was trying to explain, I might have been more understanding of the way this ended.
