Very intriguing read which kept me engaged and had me guessing at the end. Just who is L?

3.5 stars. I was recommended this book through a book club. I had not heard of the Author and had no prior knowledge of Delphine's background or credibility. The book was a slow start initially. I found the book slightly uncomfortable (maybe too dark for me), however, I suppose that this was the point. I didn't like 'L's character at all and couldn't warm to her in any way and felt slightly disappointed in Delphine for being controlled and monopolised by one person. All of the above said, the book soon became a page turner, and little references from Stephen King's 'Misery' steered your thinking in the direction that the author wanted, cramping up the creepiness bit by bit. The end left me thinking that dotting the 'i's and crossing the 't's were still to be done! Again I think that this is the point. Is it a true story or not...? *The End.

I think I've just found my newest favourite author and the way I found her was nuts. I'd read Tangerine by Christine Mangan in 2020 (a terrible book) and someone else had given it a similarly scathing review but recommended reading this book if 'you're searching for female friendship, gaslighting, and a foreign backdrop,' Something made me take a screenshot of it which I didn't look at again for three years and now, here we are.
I loved the way this way written. I loved the insiduous way L made her way into Delphine's life and how the line between reality and fiction was blurred.
Now I must read everything she's ever written.
