D'après une histoire vraie by Delphine de Vigan

3.0

3.5 stars. I was recommended this book through a book club. I had not heard of the Author and had no prior knowledge of Delphine's background or credibility. The book was a slow start initially. I found the book slightly uncomfortable (maybe too dark for me), however, I suppose that this was the point. I didn't like 'L's character at all and couldn't warm to her in any way and felt slightly disappointed in Delphine for being controlled and monopolised by one person. All of the above said, the book soon became a page turner, and little references from Stephen King's 'Misery' steered your thinking in the direction that the author wanted, cramping up the creepiness bit by bit. The end left me thinking that dotting the 'i's and crossing the 't's were still to be done! Again I think that this is the point. Is it a true story or not...? *The End.
