Honestly just every review of this mango is just going to be me going "wow I love these kids".
But also I have to give a special shout out to the absolutely legendary insult thrown Bakugo's way where he's told he has a "steamed turn of a personality".

I already enjoyed this volume more than the first one, and towards the end it good really good!
I think Izuku having to work hard and use his intellect and observations skills as opposed to a natural given talent is a unique and interesting concept, and just makes me want to cheer him on more. A lot of shounen protagonists are rather dumb and impulsive and sort of power through - Izuku doesn't yet have the luxury of depending on his powers and needs to be clever and strategic. I enjoy this character far more than the aforementioned typical shounen protagonist.
I thought it was great seeing Bakugo's reactions and gave his character more depth.Him experiencing inferiority for the first time and it causing him to have a panic attack and cry was a surprise - but felt realistic. I am looking forward to seeing his character development in the manga too.
And of course the last part of this volume is super suspenseful and definitely a highlight. Aizawa was super cool and it's already becoming apparent that he is more caring and heroic than one would expect at first sight.
The only negative was the inclusion of Mineta's perv antics, which I hate - and that is the only reason I didn't give four stars.

extremely quickly tsuyu is confirmed my favorite, closely followed by the adorable couple momo and jiro, “damn she’s stacked” made me cackle, and this moment we got realistic tummy drawing!! and sweet angsty bakugo. this vol really shows his character being someone who loves to yell and be rude (which i GET), but has intricate strategy and legit skill. and he LOSES! breakdown of ego right off the bat i stan looking forward to his arc
Graphic: Violence
Moderate: Bullying

Two major things happen in this one and both center over their training sessions. The first pits MIdoriya against Bakugo, the former as a hero and the latter as a villain along with Uraraka and Ida. Bakugo goes completely out of control. I'm very surprised none of the teachers really do anything about this. He seems almost truly a villain.
The second, and more important thing is the training session at the rescue scenarios (flood, fire etc) when a huge cadre of villains attack the kids who have barely begun training and only have two professors there. Worse, the professor the villains want to kill, All Might, isn't there and the kids have to fight or die.
It is a fun manga but there are so many characters and several I don't like, such as Bakugo (who I suspect I'm not meant to like) and Mineta who is a bit of a pervert (thankfully he's toned down in the anime which otherwise follows pretty closely). I like it but I'm also glad I can get it from the library.
