I just want to say that I loved this book. Amun is one of my four fav warriors. It opens with Strider walking around the Fortess looking for everyone to find angels all around the place. The angels are there to keep watch over amun who is chained and is to be kept isolated until they out how to free him from the toehr demons that have taken over him. Amun is sent with Haidee to hell to find out how to free himself. Now I was just like everyone else about Haidee I hated what she did to Baden. But as the story progressed and I found out about Haidee and her background and what happened I came to like her, which for me is kinda hard because there are only a few of the female character's I like. Besides Haidee I like Ashlyn, Scarlet, Sienna, and Legion. (Yes I'm a Fan of Legion was rooting for her in the last book.) While in Hell Amun and Haidee go from fighting shadow-dwellers to playing a deadly game of poker with the three horsemans. The book had some funny moments in it. Amun ended up fighting Strider which I thought Strider deserved. I used to like Strider but he just seemed to full of himself and immature.
Fav Moments
I really liked the part in the cave when Amun and Haidee made love.
Least Fav Moments
eww... Kaia and Stider as a couple? No thank you. Strider could so do better.
The one thing I really didn't like was when Amun told Haidee that he would leave the fortess and his friends to be with her if they didn't accept her. I thought that was a little too much, didn't anyone ever tell Amun women come and go but friends are forever?
Quotes
"Hate. Huh. He'd never hated himself. If anything, he'd always liked himself a little too much. Once, a human female had even accused him of picturing his own face while he climaxed. He hadn't denied it, either, and the next time he'd slept with her, he'd made sure to scream, "Strider" at the pivotal moment."
"For a moment, Strider almost forgot how pissed he was with Amun and Haidee as he savored the fact that he'd just cock-blocked the keeper of Death. Almost."
Second re read loved as much as the first time. Dreadonh rereading the next book. Cause in my mind that book never happened. If it wasnt for the character guide im doing i would skip the whole book.

Duh!
I should never doubt Gena! Again she show her class with this book! Even I'm disappointed with Lord of The Vampires, even this book have a slow beginning. Even STRIDER ANNOY ME A LOT!! I end up love Amun's story, and that's the reason why Lords of The Underworlds is one of series I will always love and adore.
For anyone who doubt and want Amun with Kaia, believe me, they're not supposed for each other. Haidee is his perfect mate, and I can't imagine if Amun and Kaia really, really paired. Maybe I'll bored.

I really love this series. I had been waiting for what seemed like forever for this book to come out. I have not been a huge fan of Amun in the previous books so I was a little worried about whether I would like this one or not. This book was hard to put down but I did find that I enjoyed the side stories more than the main one with Amun and Haidee. I had a hard time liking Haidee in the beginning but eventually about half-way through I started liking her more. Not my favorite out of the series but definitely an excellent read and a worthwhile buy.

So far this has been my favorite LOTU installment. I really like Amun. I didn't know much about him before this book as he didn't seem to get a lot of attention so I was excited to start this book and I wasn't let down. I like that he doesn't speak, I think because of that his personality is different than the other warriors and he isn't as cocky and his mouth doesn't seem to get him into trouble.
I also really liked that for a moment him and Strider were interested in the same woman, I don't recall that happening in any of her other novels and it was interesting to see the struggle Strider was going through.
I also liked Haidee. Altho all the name changes on her part throughout the book confused me a bit at first, she is just about the first female character I have enjoyed, because she wasn't as predictable as the others seem to be.
I really liked the turn the story took in the last five chapters, I just clung to the book wanting more. I'm glad to see Amun and Strider finally had it out, I was hoping it wouldn't just fizzle away and be something we never heard of again. Also all the secrets that are told in the last few chapters are incredible.
The only thing I did not like about this book was the amount of useless filler. Just random things we didn't need to read, I felt like it could have easily cut 5-10 chapters out of the book if a lot of the chapters had less filler which got boring to read at times.

Okay, this review is going to be short and sweet. I love this series. I love the Lords. So these are must reads for me.
This book was almost like a bridge book for me. I was more interested in what Strider, Paris, and William were up to with their subplots, than I was with Hadiee and Amun.
Not that I don't like them. I do. I love women who kick ass, and I love the Lords. Amun isn't a favorite. It's just been hard for me to get to know him before this book. I did enjoy their love story in this book. But it just went to easy for my liking. It had promise at the beginning of being angsty, but then it moved quickly.
It's a personal preference. I like my romance to have a lot of obstacles, to not be easy. And this felt easy.
I loved the scenes with Strider (yum!), Paris, and William and I CAN NOT WAIT for their stories!
Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it won't be one of my favorites in the series.

I was originally completely against Amun and Haidee being together. I thought that Gena Showalter was going to pair up Amun and Kaia and then Strider and Haidee. It seemed like Stridey-man and Haidee had chemistry in The Darkest Lie, and it seemed that Amun had a thing for Kaia. Well, I've never been so glad to be proven wrong. When I found out the pairings, I was...well, let's just say upset. I have since realized that I just have to let Gena do her thing because, hey, she actually knows what she's doing! Amun and Haidee are perfect together, and I can see now that Strider and Kaia are perfect for each other. So, Gena, I apologize for questioning your genius.
Before I get started on my review, I just wanted to mention that I am going to do this review a little differently. For the three main characters of the book--Amun, Haidee, Strider--I will be putting some lyrics of songs that made me think of them when I was reading the book, but the rest of the characters, I'll just be talking about like normal.
I hear voices in my head
The council me
They understand
They tell me things that I will do
They show me things I'll do to you
They talk to me, they talk to me
I hear voices crying
I see heroes dying
I taste the blood that's drying
I feel the tension rising
I see darkness falling
I hear voices calling
I feel justice crawling
I see faith has fallen
("Voices" by Rev Theory)
Amun has always been a little mysterious. Up until the past couple of books, he hadn't really been around much and, while I had liked and adored him, I didn't totally love him. Well, I certainly do now. The guy's a sexy beast! He is sweet, loyal, loving, fierce, intense, compassionate, and drop-dead gorgeous. And I have to say, he didn't talk hardly at all--except at the end with Strider, the asshole, and once with Haidee--but it was extremely sexy that he was able to talk inside Haidee's head because of their blood bond. He is definitely the perfect male to be with Haidee and I love how he loves her. I mean, hell! He was willing to die just to be with her! Amun is now one of my favorite Lords.
You are exactly what I'm looking for
You are the key that opens up the door
I'll take anything from you
I'd long to love you
You are exactly what I've waiting for
Waiting has only made me love you more
Tell me what you're gonna do
I'm crazy into you
("Extreme" by Valora)
I love Haidee. I remember when she was first introduced in TDL and everyone was hating on her because she killed Baden, but I loved her immediately. I didn't care that she killed Baden because 1.) I don't really know him, 2.) I knew she was going to be one of the Lords' woman, and 3.) She was just too easy to like. She's sassy and strong, brave and bold, sweet and caring, compassionate and loving. Yes, she was a Hunter. Who the hell cares! Everyone--except me--is okay with Paris being all obsessed with Sienna--who was Bait, thank you very much! And Haidee is certainly more lovable, in my opinion, than Sienna ever was. Like Amun, Haidee has quickly become one of my favorite females of the series. She rocks.
Jessie Amun is a friend, yeah
I know he's been a good friend of mine
But lately something's changed that ain't hard to define
Jessie's Amun's got himself a girl and I want to make her mine
And she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it
Yeah 'n' he's holding her in his arms
Late, late at night
You know, I wish that I hadJessie's Amun's girl
I wish that I hadJessie's Amun's girl
("Jessie's Amun's Girl" by Rick Springfield)
Strider, oh Strider, you drive me crazy! I love you, but I want to hit you! You are so adorable, but you suck! I am very glad that Stridey-man's book is next because I've been waiting for it for a long time, and I can't wait to see how Kaia finally wins him over. However, I did not enjoy when he was an ass to Kaia in this book, giving her shit excuses. I really liked seeing that other side to Kaia, though--the vulnerable side as she admitted how she felt about Strider, the jealous side as she smelled the lingering scent of the stripper on his skin, and fury, which is nothing new of course, when Amun hurt him. She's really something else and I can't wait to see how their relationship turns out!
I want to marry William and have his babies. He is so damn adorable, and I love that he finally got around to going after Gilly's family. Speaking of Gilly, they are so cute together! If they don't end up as each other's happily ever after, well, I know I'll be pissed. Sure, she's only seventeen and he's centuries old, but who gives a damn?! It's pretty much the same situation with the Lords who have human mates! Just wait a couple years and it will be fine! Oh, oh, oh! Annnnnnd...We finally find out how Willie is connected to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and, let me tell you, it's pretty badass and it just makes him even sexier!
The one Lord who irritates the hell out of me right now is Paris. Goodness, he needs to get over the Sienna shit so bad, I can't even tell you! I am so glad that his book is after Strider's because then I don't have to deal with his shit anymore. UGH.
One thing I don't understand is why Kane is practically non-existent in the books. According to Gena, his book is coming after Paris's. So, shouldn't he be showing up more in these books so that we can kind of get to knowing more about him? He's probably the Lord that we know the least about.
Ashlyn is still pregnant. What! How?! Why the hell is she still pregnant! She has been harboring those demon babies inside her for six books now! Only one book she wasn't pregnant in and that was her own! Are you. Shitting me? This has got to end. She needs to pop those damn things out and let someone else have a chance at being pregnant!
Like I said before, I learned to trust Master Showalter and herJedi Author Goddess abilities. I may not understand where the hell she's going, but I trust that she has a plan and won't let me down because she hasn't so far. Now I can't wait for The Darkest Surrender! Eek!

The Darkest Secret is the seventh novel in Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series. This wasn’t my first time reading Amun and Haidee’s book, but I’m glad I reread it so I could get a refresher on their story.
Amun is the Keeper of Secrets, and he’s one Lord that I wasn’t sure I would like his book since I didn’t know much about him, plus he didn’t speak much. I also was skeptical about the FMC he was going to end up with since she’s the one who unlived Baden, the Keeper of Distrust, but I trusted Gena’s writing and wasn’t disappointed. I knew there was a reason why Gena set up Amun with Haidee and vice versa.
Amun is the Lord who can manipulate the darkest thoughts of anyone near him, and he doesn’t speak much due to the demon that is inside him. I finally realized why he doesn’t speak, and it’s devastating what he has to endure, especially since he went to hell with some of the other Lords and hasn’t been the same since he went. He’s now a prisoner in his own home because something is not right with him, and he ends up meeting a fellow prisoner, Haidee, who the Lords brought back. Haidee is the hunter who unalived the Lords’ friend, Baden, years ago, and they know they can’t trust her because she despises their kind. Haidee, though, takes a liking to Amun because she mistakes him for a fellow hunter who happens to be her lover. She’s determined to help Amun, even though she shouldn’t because he’s demon-possessed, but there’s something about the Lord that sets her aflame and she can’t seem to stay away.
I’m surprised I ended up enjoying Amun and Haidee’s book because, again, I was skeptical as to why Gena made these two end up together. After all, Haidee despises the Lords and the Lords don’t care for her. Amun protected her from the Lords, and Haidee protected Amun from the demon inside him. Haidee ended up being a kick-butt heroine, and she just needed to get away from the hunters and learn from the Lords more. Amun needed someone like Haidee, too. I’ll never doubt Gena again.
It did take some time for Haidee to give in to those feelings she was having for Amun because she mistook him for the hunter she was seeing at first, but eventually, the spicy times came and it was scorching between the two characters.
I loved getting more of Strider’s and William’s POVs in this book, too. Poor Strider had feelings for someone, but that someone ended up with another Lord. He needed to have time for himself to have fun, and I loved how Gena was setting up his book, which I can’t wait to reread.
Overall, this is another page-turner from Gena Showalter, and I can’t wait to continue my reread of this series.

Amun, the keeper of secrets, has just been rescued from hell where he had endured the awful thoughts the demons harbored, which was too much for Amun. He basically shut down to where he is catatonic or he is going berserk to where no one can soothe his demon possessed body. Well, no one except Haidee, a hunter sworn to take out the Lords. She was the very one who lured and murdered Baden, so the idea of her with a Lord wasn’t easy to swallow.
Haidee thought Amun was her old boyfriend Micah, and that he was a prisoner of the Lords, so she planned to rescue him and avenge Amun for his suffering at the hands of the Lord. The problem was that Amun’s touch, kisses and everything seem to turn her on more than Micah used to.
What will this hunter do when she discovers that the man she is in love with is not her beloved Micah, but one of her sworn enemy, a Lord of the Underworld?
I liked this story, but it was too long. I was trying to figure out how Strider & Micah would fit into this love triangle/quadrangle. I did like them as a couple and I liked that Haidee acknowledged her attraction to Amun as being much stronger than Micah. I am not enjoying this series as much as I used to and I am a little hesitant to read the next book.
