As Picoult and her daughter mentioned when I heard them speak at ALA, this is a sweet, lovely story and a great introduction to Picoult for the children of Picoult fans. I enjoyed it LOTS! I also devoured it, as it is an easy read, which also lends itself to preteen/YA audiences. Fun fun fun...and to think Samantha thought of the idea while daydreaming in French class as a freshman!

Positively adorbs. That’s all I can say about this book. Yet another YA I’ll enjoy passing along to my 14 y.o.

it's been a while since I read this, but I absolutely DESPISED it.

it was just dumb? it was written by the help of a teenager, and no offence, but you could tell. Oliver was irritating and not developed. Delilah was shallow and weird. they did not have any chemistry. I hated the whole "we hate men" mermaids.

Delilah was so over dramatic. Oliver pulled her into the book, and she stormed off saying how "he broke my heart, but I guess that's what love is." she literally JUST met him? and you've barely ever talked to
him, why do you think you love him?

ugh. this was just not good.

This is more-so a middle school book than YA. So I am rating it as my younger self would’ve. What a cute idea! I found myself smiling thinking about showing this book to my daughter when she’s older. Highly recommend for middle schoolers.

Adorable premise, delightful execution, though a few false endings threw me for a loop. Incredible co-production by mother/daughter duo!

This book didn't really jive with me. I didn't care for the insta-love relationship between Delilah and Oliver, or the back and forth point-of-views, or the reality vs fantasy (the real person living in fantasy and the fantasy person wanting reality), but mostly the ending, someone having to give up there life for another, it was all a bit much. But if you read the synopsis for this book you'll see that's exactly what it's about soo.. maybe it's for you.

What I did like:
*Characters striving to be more than they are
*Princess saves the prince, or did she
*Self absorbed characters broadening their horizons
*Everyone Deserves A Happily Ever After

meh...I was not expecting to be blown away by this, but was surprised as I began the book. But by the end I was let down. The ending seemed to wrap up the main issue in a perfect little package, but at the same time managed to leave big questions still lingering.
