This book was so disappointing and I should have dnf'ed it after I ended up putting it down for a week or two. I was anticipating reading this book so much and it is one that I wished I never wasted my time on.

There were some of the most infuriating characters in the book and by the end of it, I did not want the two main characters to be together at all. I hated all of the relationship drama between the two of them and the decisions that were made. By the halfway point, I was so done with it and could not be bothered at all. I called the end reveal from really early in the book which made it even more of a bad read.

This is all super disappointing because I had such high hope for it because it was a Catherine Cowles book and I have enjoyed every other piece of her work I have read so far. I will still read more from her. I am now just more hesitant when going into them.

When I started reading this I knew I recognized the names from another book!

Carter and Austin are def opposites attract. They start as enemies, then besties, then they don’t talk, then they are besties, then lovers. I was HERE FOR IT. I loved both of them so much. Once Austin decided to go for it, he was the perfect man.

The stalker element here was done really well. It was so eerie and felt like something that could really happen. I kinda knew who it was but the reveal was still so well done!

And Blue?!?! The rescue pitt Bull puppy. The sweetest boy.

Every now and then a new author will come on the romance scene and absolutely blow me away with their debut novel.  Further to Fall was one of those books.  This book was so well done, so well thought, and just an absolute joy to read.  It had a nice slow burn, lots of healthy drama, and a mystery that kept me glued to my seat.

Further to Fall is about Austin, an MMA fighter with a dream, and a grudge that has him denying himself real love for a long time.  Carter is a fresh faced elementary school teacher from Georgia, who comes to LA to teach inner city students.  Best friends with musician Liam, Carter meets Austin one night when she meets up with Liam.  And as far as first impressions go, this was certainly not a meet cute.  I was hooked into this book from page one.  I enjoyed all the characters, and loved getting to know their back stories, and a little bit about them.  I also loved how the reader progressed through the relationship between Austin and Carter.  A lot of romances today have a romance that takes off from some capacity right at the beginning.  The build up is there, but the attraction is so prominent that it's simply just a matter of time before everything goes up in a big ball of fire.  Further to Fall was different.  The romance was always there, but it was a low simmer, and the anticipation of what was going to happen was the thing that kept me flipping the pages on my Kindle.  The second half of the book was a thrill ride in and of itself, simply for the fact that it was wrought with tension from an outside source, and brought an element into the story that I was never suspecting.

Further to Fall has introduced Catherine Cowles to the writer spotlight and she is definitely one to keep an eye on.  I'm already anxiously awaiting her next book, and can't wait to get my hands on it.  Don't hesitate to pick up this debut novel, and give this new author a chance!

This book hooked me at chapter 1! The chemistry between Carter & Austin is electric! This book took me on a journey I didn't expect and I loved everything about it. Great read! Highly recommend.

I've been Instagram buds with Catherine Cowles for quite awhile, so when she reached out to me to ask if I'd be interested in reading and reviewing her debut novel, I didn't hesitate for a second. Good choice, too, because Further to Fall was a great book. I don't always find MMA fighters all that appealing, but Austin changed my mind. He had to work for it though! Just like how he had to work to get Carter. I enjoyed their unlikely friendship and how it developed into more. There were some angsty moments and a secondary storyline involving a stalker gave me a few heart-pounding, edge of my seat moments to go along with the romance, too.
