It was good
This was the first book I have read from this author and I was really pleased with it. I mean, who doesn’t want a guy like Remi. I love it when the female has an unusual job and she has confidence in herself. These two together were pretty darn good and it was written well.

I could not put this down, I swear it was as if my kindle was my lifeline while reading Line of Fire. In a world full of craziness right now this was the exact escape I needed. I mean I read this in one sitting because I was reeled in from page 1 and I already want to go back and read it again.
Line of Fire is book 1 in the new Archer Tactical series by A.K. Evans and I will be waiting ever so impatiently for the rest of the series! I absolutely could not get enough

This was the first book I’ve read by A.K. Evans and I really enjoyed it. It was a quick, fast paced read and a great introduction to the cast of characters for this series. It did refer back to characters from previous series, but I didn’t find that it took away from anything since I hadn’t read them first.
Remington Archer, Remi, owns a self defense training company with his two brothers. He was a swoony hero with a soft heart and a need to protect. When he met Kaia, he knew instantly she was going to mean something to him. Before he knew her strength of character and the trials she’d faced in life, he could tell she was not someone who would back down, and that is what he’d just told his brothers he was looking for.
Kaia had had a tough childhood, only surviving because her sister shielded her. Now, faced with an abusive ex that won’t go away, she is determined to take her life back, and finds Remi is not only the perfect man to teach her to defend herself, but also the perfect man for her.
This book was a good blend of romance and suspense. There was never a doubt Kaia’s ex would resurface, and that ratchets up the intensity. The romance between Kaia and Remi happens quickly, but under the circumstances it seemed believable.

This is a chance romance with some suspense and trigger warnings for abuse. Kaia has a past that leads her to walk through the door of Remi’s business and their love story instantly begins that second. Kaia is a true strong leading character. Her story is incredible and their story makes you happy. It’s not without some bumps though but it leaves you not wanting to put the book down.
I really loved Kaia and Remi’s story and can’t wait for the next two featuring the other Archer brother.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH ONE OF A VARIETY OF SOURCES. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
Having read several of this author's works, I'm always excited when a new series of theirs comes out, and this book was no exception. I was pleased to find that it was a very engaging read!
First, I feel that this book should have come with two warnings. The first one being a trigger warning, as it deals with topics of domestic abuse and stalking. The second warning being that this book is tied to not one, but two previous books/series, and while I had been warned of one of them, I was caught by surprise on the second, which was a bad thing, as it became a spoiler for a book/series that I hadn't read yet!
Once I set my irritation at the spoiler aside, I actually found this to be quite the suspenseful and engaging read! I enjoyed watching the suspense ramp up at the same time as the romance did, and I especially enjoyed the climax of that suspense! It felt very realistic to me, very logical, and that made the book all the better!
Kaia really impressed me as well! I loved how strong she was, how resilient. I liked that she took charge when things got bad and got herself out of the situation, then doubled down on that and took measures to learn how to protect herself in case something happened again! I loved her capacity to find the good in the male species, despite all the bad that some members had put her through. She felt very real to me, and I was easily able to connect with her emotionally.
I loved meeting back up with Remi! I love how he cared for Kaia, how he stood by her and helped her heal emotionally. I really loved learning his full name! I immediately pictured Pierce Brosnan when I learned what his name was! That got a big grin from me!
All things considered, this was an excellent read, despite having a book I hadn't read spoiled for me. I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes!

Yes this book has instances of DV, but at its heart, it’s a candy coated, repetitive, and fairytale romance. It’s a quick, easy read. Hardly any angst between the two MCs.
The characters “rasp” thier lines so often I don’t know how thier throats still function.
I guess some others found it dark, but there’s too much hope, happiness, and hardly any conflict beyond the MC and the abuser who pops in and out and convienent times to move the plot along.
I enjoyed it for what it is.
