FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH ONE OF A VARIETY OF SOURCES. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!

Having read several of this author's works, I'm always excited when a new series of theirs comes out, and this book was no exception. I was pleased to find that it was a very engaging read!

First, I feel that this book should have come with two warnings. The first one being a trigger warning, as it deals with topics of domestic abuse and stalking. The second warning being that this book is tied to not one, but two previous books/series, and while I had been warned of one of them, I was caught by surprise on the second, which was a bad thing, as it became a spoiler for a book/series that I hadn't read yet!

Once I set my irritation at the spoiler aside, I actually found this to be quite the suspenseful and engaging read! I enjoyed watching the suspense ramp up at the same time as the romance did, and I especially enjoyed the climax of that suspense! It felt very realistic to me, very logical, and that made the book all the better!

Kaia really impressed me as well! I loved how strong she was, how resilient. I liked that she took charge when things got bad and got herself out of the situation, then doubled down on that and took measures to learn how to protect herself in case something happened again! I loved her capacity to find the good in the male species, despite all the bad that some members had put her through. She felt very real to me, and I was easily able to connect with her emotionally.

I loved meeting back up with Remi! I love how he cared for Kaia, how he stood by her and helped her heal emotionally. I really loved learning his full name! I immediately pictured Pierce Brosnan when I learned what his name was! That got a big grin from me!

All things considered, this was an excellent read, despite having a book I hadn't read spoiled for me. I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes!
