Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper

Trigger Warnings
I had been wondering why I had not written a review for this book and I think it's because I have a lot of things I want to say about this and mixed feelings about a lot of things.
I have read Wonder and I was comparing August to Melody and Out of My Mind made August look extremely lucky (he was extremely lucky the whole time) and I felt so sorry for Melody sometimes because I cannot imagine not being able to communicate with words.
The writing was great and I really understood Melody most of the time.
The only problem I had with it was that it was too happy. I was expecting something deeper and not a "happily-ever-after" kind of thing.

Five shining stars
This book has been welcomed to my favourites shelf!
I love it so much! It was way too short.
The characters were not completely flat like many characters are, but they were all very likeable (maybe not all of them) and I could relate to many of them so I actually felt like I knew what they were going through.
It was so realistic and I actually felt the characters' disappointment, sorrow or happiness, which is very rare in a book.
I love this so much!
I'm tempted to create a shelf called "best books I have ever read" because of this!
I think I loved it even more because I usually devour any book which has a touch of magical realism. I would recommend it to everyone, and I think I made it clear that I will be re-reading it many times!

The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
~DNF @ 51% so I won't rate it
This book was TERRIBLE.
The characters? Agatha was okay, nothing special and I detest Sophie. She makes me SO mad!
The only thing that made me read even half of it was because it was a little funny here and there.
This may not be a very popular opinion, but I also thought that Sophie would be better off in Evil and Agatha in Good.
I can't say anything, though, since I haven't finished it.
The author portrayed it a little like everyone who liked pink was automatically Good and the people who liked black were Evil.
And? It really didn't seem like that because if she was a reader she would have been a little smarter. It's a mystery to me as to why she didn't want to stay in Evil just to be Reader sometimes.
I am so happy that I DNF'd this but at the same time, I can't help wonder why this, of all books, had to be the first book I have ever DNF'd. I tried to finish it, AND I was almost halfway through, but I think I might give it one more try sometime.

She did the first thing she thought of and delivered a swift, loud fart

Agatha's stomach churned. She didn't want to be evil! Not when Sophie was good!

Is it just me or does it seem a little like Agatha doesn't want Sophie to be in Good when she's in Evil? Or Sophie wants to be Good but Agatha doesn't want to be Evil. The author portrayed it a little like everyone who liked pink was automatically Good and the people who liked black were Evil.

The Lighthouse Between the Worlds by Melanie Crowder
DNF at 41%.
I just cannot. I went into this with high expectations but I could not finish it. I may give this one more chance, but not anytime soon.

The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill
5.0
Looking at my rating, I loved this book. It was darkly funny, gorgeously satisfying and the pages turned themselves.
The Girl who Drank the Moon is a book by Kelly Barnhill.
Every year, the people of the Protectorate -- called The City of Sorrow by some -- leave a baby in the woods to be sacrificed to the witch living there. But on the contrary, the witch, Xan, is a kind witch. She nourishes the babies with starlight and picks out families for them from the other side of the woods, and they are called the star children.
One night Xan accidentally feeds a baby moonlight. The baby gets enmagicked, and Xan decides to raise the child, whom she calls Luna as her own. But as Luna's thirteenth birthday approaches, her magic emerges, with both dangerous and thrilling consequences.
The book is unpredictable, entertaining and the plot was gripping and amazing fun.
I definitely recommend this book if you like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson or action-packed books.

The Story of India by Michael Wood

Everything in this book was arranged very haphazardly, with no particular order.
It felt like the author took a bunch of history textbooks, skimmed through all of them, and then just wrote down whatever he remembered and decided to publish it.
I also felt like it didn't provide you with enough information about each topic and moved on too quickly.
I knew quite a bit about some topics, and in those particular topics, it seemed as though some facts were just missing or they were just skipped.

I had been wanting to read this book for so long. I think it was more than a year...
It's so hyped up and I can totally understand why.
I've seen a lot of reviews comparing it to Harry Potter, and that was enough motivation for me. It was worth the months and months of waiting.
I loved this book so much!! I'm really glad I read it. I can't believe I have been missing out on this for so long! I need the next book SOON. Very soon.
