Trying to play it cool but Emily Lloyd-Jones is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED, she's going on my auto-buy list. I loved this one so much.

This isn't quite what I had hoped for--the FMC, Charlotte, spends so much time dithering about whether to employ her immense powers that could definitely save her from any dangerous situation (without revealing what those powers are) that I got impatient with any kind of physical danger she ended up in. Because it's not really a big deal to be in physical danger when you can get yourself out of it at any time, is it?
That being said, I respect what Nascosta was doing--calling back to a romance novel from 1990 while updating it in her own way. I loved how the LI started to realize how dangerous Charlotte could be and was like YES MORE PLEASE. And it was a very quick, mostly lighthearted read.

The first half was shaky and I almost DNF'd, but the second half was much better and I found I really enjoyed it. I've already put a library hold on the sequel.
