the art is so cool and the story's got me intrigued!! I'm so used to most graphic novels to be all about art and not that much story but this one has them both! so pretty with the colours too, wow.

not that much of a plot, really, mainly depressed pms kinda vibes but you know what? that's also valid!

i, too, want to spend a whole year hibernating in my depression. i should have done that back in 2016. maybe life would have gotten better after that.

the book itself was not bad. i honestly enjoyed it a lot, it was fun. i am hoping that i won't forget it in a few weeks.

p.s. to when i am bored: read other people's reviews on this book because they are freaking hilarious, lol.

well, that was pretty boring and a waste of time. i feel like this book could have been written in 100 pages and it would have had the same effect on me. the build-up wasn't even worth it.

there was some pretty relatable stuff said by Eileen but then her behavior just straight-up ruined the image i have built in my head. i know that there is a charm in fucked up characters and i usually enjoy them a lot but Eileen was so dull and shallow.

as i've read other books by Moshfegh i can say that this one is not nearly as good as her other ones.

this is one of the most disturbing books I've read and i did not enjoy it at all. my eyes did not deserve this kind of treatment. yikes.

i think I'm not smart enough to appreciate this type of lit. i found it quite boring and i couldn't understand all the metaphorical writing. it didn't leave a mark on me or something even tho it had a pretty decent amount of piss. that's probably what threw me off.

i usually am so good at remembering queer lit but it's been a few days since I've read this one and i can say that it's already out of my memory. that's pretty showing when it comes to the impact that this book had on me.

what? i'm sorry but as i am almost 30% in and i don't understand/comprehend a single thing, i think it's time for me to drop it... i hate dnf-ing a book but at this point there are so many books that i want to read and being stuck on this one is only going to make me go into a slump. i didn't get the story or the characters, it was pretty messy and all over the place and i really can't make myself finish it. sorry.

i really wanted to love this one. :(

i'll admit, the manga i pretty sad. it's my friend's favourite one and i understand why - i see a lot of them in punpun. yet, i can't say i related that much with most of the characters. i found it a bit tedious towards the end but that might just be because I'm sick and my head hurts.

it was a good manga, the art style was v cool. the story was heartbreaking.

i'd give this book 3.75* mainly because of how messy the storyline was. another reason would be the fact that i couldn't quite understand what did these people do there exactly. @ future me, i hope you get that.

what i mean with the previous is... i get that she was telling different stories in which she was trying to "help" other people, lost people, people without parents, people in poverty... but it fell off from the main story a bit and maybe if it was rearranged in some different way i would have liked it a bit more.

it was quite interesting to read that book to say the least. probably because it felt like a v contemporary book that's based in my poor little country and it felt a bit unreal. so cool but also... do people see us like that? people stuck in poverty, people leaving their children because they can't take care of them and then the authorities won't give you the right to look after a child, no matter how well off you are, unless you are not heterosexual and a homeowner... that freaking sucks... it makes me hate this country even more and i hate living here.

in some ways this book made me realize how people like me, queer people, would never get the chance to adopt unless they do some illegal shit. unless they push some money into someone else's hand. i know more queer people being competent enough to take care of a child rather than your plain heterosexual man with the beer belly who r*pes his wife and drinks himself into oblivion every night. and they are worrying about the child of a perfectly normal human being rather than that piece of shit. i am taking this book way too personally because it could one day be my future.

reading this, the life of the main character, i feel lucky that i have a family that loves me, there's a roof on top of my head and my safety is not being threatened every day. but there are so many people who cannot experience this feeling of safety even in their own space, their own body because they live in somebody else's world.

a great eye-opening book for the life of many people in Bulgaria. my most favourite thing was roaming the places, the streets and the shops.
