5 stars to the Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction. Important read.
But why did this edition have 2 other essays? I failed to see the relevance in conjunction.

I don’t know how this has 4.45 stars on Storygraph. It was so beyond bad. If I read this when I just came out of the closet and thought this was how actual gay people are, I would have gone straight back into the closet and never come out again.

Incredibly moving, and this depiction of female friendship has more to it than what’s just at the surface. I can’t wait to reread someday, and for the second book. It’s clear Ferrante is a master of her craft, and her popularity is more than justified.

I enjoyed this. The painter came to life, flaws and virtues alike. I think that this was an insightful read, however I would not necessarily recommend it to every reader. If you have no interest in Degas, then this read is unlikely to benefit you in any way.

Underlined concepts very clearly but I also felt that this had a more condescending tone than I would appreciate from a textbook.

It was good but I didn’t feel very engaged while reading it.
