Mary Oliver has such a sincere and completely humble reverence for nature that is impossible not to be drawn to. She has such a soft and beautiful tone, as if these poems are being whispered into your heart. I love her.

Kind of boring but also given the subject matter and intentionality that’s almost forgivable but not quite. Didn’t enjoy it.

Louise Glück’s intimate knowledge of greek myth allows even a reader with surface level knowledge of myth would be able to enjoy it, however it’s particularly pleasurable when you’re able to understand the nuance. It’s beautiful how she’s able to keep myth alive and well through her work— myth’s appeal is how eternal it is and how you can see it in your life every day, and she truly understands this and illustrates the parallels that have allowed it to survive for centuries. She really does give it a “Vita Nova.”
