One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

"But this is Nate. Who’s not a friend, exactly. Or at all, I guess. But he’s not nothing."
Full Review: [coming soon]
UGHHH THIS WAS SO GOOD.
LIKE HELLO!!!! BRONWYN AND NATE Y'ALL.
but the ending. . . .
I guess you can say that I expected something different? Everything was just going so well but I was just really let down by the ending. This story had that cliche-but-not-really thing going on and I have to say that the author pulled of the whole thing really well. The characters were very lovable, relatable, but still realistic enough. The plot was very mis leading at first and it just really was going perfectly!!!!
And even though the writing style is intriguing, the characters are perfection, the plot just took a turn that, for me, totally left the whole reason I read it. I wanted more mystery incorporated into the story. I also wanted more of a closure, *sigh*. If this was solely a contemporary, high school, love story, I probably would have given it 5 stars but since I read this for the high school contemporary AND the mystery, I have to give it 4 stars.
The characters in this book are my absolute favs though. #squadgoals

"Human beings act very much like
storms when there’s something to say."
Aww this is a really nice short story for fans of the Every Day series. I don't think that this would make much sense to those who haven't read the main books or it would just not have the same effect since you wouldn't have a main plot to base it on.
I forgot the feeling of tragedy that I got when I'm reading this book. It's all coming back to me :'(

This series has me shook on so many different levels. I don't understand how I survived this book. Too many things happening all at once but you still somehow understand it...?
I have no idea how to explain this series and is definitely better if you don't know or expect anything. This is a type of book/novel that should be gone into without knowing anything.

[I barely found any nice quotes to put here and, to my regulars, you all know how much I love quotes]
THIS BOOK WAS SO SLOWWWW
ohmygod what happened?? I'll tell you what. . .
I was in love with the first book but I have to admit that I probably loved it for the romance since it was well written and I enjoyed it very much. . . but. . . there was barely any world building to begin with. And you can clearly see that in the second book since the love triangle is gone and the fantasy world [supposedly] builds up.
I was very curious and had high expectations for the fantasy world but sadly it did not reach my expectations and how I thought it would be. The plot practically stayed in one place the whole book and this could really have had more potential.
The plot is just so. . . one dimensional? Trapped? One-place-ish?? I don't know how to say it but I just really hate these kinds of fantasy. Fantasy worlds are meant to explore and create paintings and dreams inside the readers' head and this book just did not do it for me.
The only reason I even gave this 2 stars is because I always enjoy the little Gaudrel poems and song excerpts in between chapters. That was really creative and that was just a really big redeeming quality.
And don't forget my baby boys. Rafe and Kaden needs to be mentioned for the redeeming qualities of this book and even though they are a bit one dimensional at times I enjoyed about 50% the chapters they were in and they really used me to finish the first book. In this book though, they were not the entire focus of the book and the motivation that I had for reading and finishing the first book is gone and I just found myself slowly losing interest in it.
AND THE FIRST BOOK AND THE SECOND BOOK ENDED THE SAME WAY?? EVEN RAFE'S LINES WERE THE SAME!!
not that I had anything against ending books the same way. . .don't end it the exact same way with this kind of story and this just really did pull it down for me even more than it already did.
I'm sorry to any fans of this book that I hurt. *peace sign*

“When I first saw you, I thought you were so beautiful that you couldn’t possibly love me”
All I have to say is that I was complete trash by the end of this book.
You get to really see the character development of ALL of the characters. I have to admit that I found the first part of this book boring but the second part got me so intrigued!! I can't believe I finished this in a day. I also liked how this book was not completely serious and has a side of humor because sometimes we just need different types of books for us not to get tired of a specific genre.
“Through books she could see the world.”

Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between by Jennifer E. Smith

actually a really good story and probably one of my favorite jennifer e. smith books.
one thing that never lets me down are the plots of her story and how they are told. She shows how real life really is and how it isn't always what it shows in movies. Although, I hoped that she could have shown more in their path BACK to one another...but then again, this is my opinion :))
