This book had an interesting premise but I think it could have been executed a bit better. It was pretty slow paced and repetitive at times. But I really liked the cast of characters and the tension/mystery leading up to the climax. Though I will also admit I found the ending (especially the epilogue) to be a bit disappointing; it sort of erased some of the meaning of some of the earlier events such as the gut-wrenching moment that the main character learns that both of her parents are dead and she's the last one left to take care of the little sister she's been searching for, only to find out in the epilogue that oops, the parents were alive the whole time, no worries! or having two romantic relationships for neither of them to matter. But it was overall an entertaining read.
I had high expectations for this book since I see it so frequently recommended, but I admit I was disappointed. The plot was all right but a bit boring, and the characters just were not memorable. Though I sympathized with Ben, they were truthfully not a very likable or interesting character. To be honest, I still can't figure out why Nathan liked them despite the way they treated Nathan so poorly for a large part of the book. I did enjoy reading about Ben repairing their relationship with their sister and the two of them helping each other through coping with their toxic family. It was okay, but not much stood out as particularly memorable and to be honest, it is not a book I would recommend.
As with volume 1, I absolutely adored this story! I am glad we got to keep up with some of the original characters while being introduced to new ones, and I liked that this volume was heavier on the romance aspect. Overall adored this whole comic and I imagine I will be rereading at some point! Cute, fast-paced, and lighthearted.
A story about a gay hockey player who loves to bake? I am 100% the target audience, and I adored this comic! I gave it 4.5/5 stars only because I recall there being one or two jokes/lines that made me uncomfortable (though I can't remember them off of the top of my head to point them out). But overall I had a lot of fun with this! It was fast-paced, light-hearted, and a perfect sweet contemporary rad.
I had really high expectations for this book but I honestly didn't love it. It was a bit of a fever dream? The plot itself (finding out why these dream things take over and trying to find a way to stop them, while main character tries to recover his memories) wasn't bad, but for much of the story the characters were stuck in these dreams. I didn't find it interesting to read about them navigating the dreams or unraveling them; I didn't particularly care whose dream they were in or why a character who was irrelevant/unknown to me was having an issue that would cause the dream. I also didn't find the main characters very interesting or likeable, including the main character Kane. Honestly Poesy, the evil drag queen, was my favorite character despite them being, well, evil (you know, misguided). Overall, it was okay but I don't really think it was for me.
