The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren
4.0
I am so glad I saved this book for my holiday! I usually fly through a book a day on a holiday but last week I went on a women’s wellness retreat and although there was plenty of downtime we had such a laugh I only managed to read this book the whole trip!
I loved it - it was the perfect holiday read and is a fake marriage trope. Liam is the heir to his families business and has married Anna in order to receive his inheritance, when they have to attended his sisters wedding together on a remote island the sparks begin to fly and maybe their marriage could be the real thing?
I loved Liam and Anna’s relationship, Liam is such a golden retriever and the family dynamics make for some funny scenes - this is one of my favourite Christina Lauren books although I’m basically a super fan at this point!

The Honey-Don't List by Christina Lauren
4.0
I am obsessed with Christina Lauren’s books, they’re an auto buy author for me but this one fell a little flat. It’s not a bad book by any means but compared to their others I’d say it’s in my bottom two! I didn’t like the bosses and I think that’s what distracted me from the relationship. Overall, not a miss but I’d start with their other books before this
The Cinnamon Bun Book Store by Laurie Gilmore

First of all, I did not enjoy pumpkin spice cafe however I always fall for hype so I was never going to not read this! I actually much preferred this book! I listened to it as an audiobook (via @bookbeat - 60 days free in my 🔗) and I think that made a world of difference.
I found PSC to have a lot of typos so listening to this one meant I didn’t see any or there weren’t any! I will say the phrase ‘got the hots for me/him/her’ was very over used and it gave me the ick but on the whole I enjoyed it. It’s full of tropes and a garunteed happy ending plus it’s full of autumn vibes. There are definitely better books in the genre but this wasn’t that bad!

The Summer I First Saw You by Elizabeth O'Roark

This is the fifth book in the series and I’ve read 1,2,3 and 5 as I didn’t realise there were so many! I’ve now added the fourth to my collection to read this month because the series has really grown on me from the beginning!
I think the first book was my least favourite but I enjoyed this one! I wasn’t a fan of the age gap relationship trope, it felt a little weird to me even though they were both of age but it wasn’t enough to put me off! I did like the characters as individuals though and I love how the characters from earlier in the series make an appearance in this one as well!
If you’ve enjoyed the first few books in the series you’ll like this one, and I’d definitely recommend reading them all (most of them are in The Works for cheap!)

Honeybee by Dawn O'Porter
5.0
I am a big Dawn O’Porter fan so this was one of my most anticipated reads of the month. I’ll be honest, after reading a lot of easy, fast paced romcoms at first I thought I wasn’t enjoying it because i wasn’t flying through it. But I’m sure that was just a hangover of previous books because I was laughing out loud at this book whilst wanting to cry and hug the main characters.
This book follows two strong female leads as they navigate life in their early twenties, experiencing loss, love and all the general problems that come with not knowing who you are or who you want to be. I loved being on their journey with them especially as it has friendship at the heart of it.
I can’t recommend it enough! A five star read for me

Seven Exes by Lucy Vine
4.0
I loved this book! It follows Ester as she re-dates her seven exs to see if she has any missed chances. I love Lucy’s writing style so I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed but there was so much more to this than I anticipated. It was full of love and female friendships as well as tackling some serious topics and of course there was a romance! Although that’s not the focus of the book!
I loved the characters and friendships throughout this as well as Esters growth from the beginning. I can’t fault it so I’m going to cut my review short before I waffle on about how much I loved it! 😂

Not Another Love Song by Julie Soto

I listened to the audio of this and I had high hopes because I loved Julie Sotos first book but I think the orchestra setting through it off for me. It just wasn’t my cup of tea!
Couples Retreat: The Perfect Enemies-To-lovers, Escapist Romcom For 2024 by Lorraine Brown
3.5
Lorraine's done it again! I’m obsessed with her books, and this one was no exception! We've got all the ingredients for the perfect rom-com: enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and a dreamy backdrop in the South of France—what's not to love? 💖
Two writers, who once co-wrote a smash hit, think they're off on a writers' retreat to start their next big thing... but they've accidentally been booked onto a couples retreat! Cue the tension, and undeniable sparks. Will they last the week—or maybe, just maybe, rediscover something more?
I loved the characters and Lorraine's writing is like the best kind of snack - so addictive you’ll devour it in one sitting! Add this one to your TBR list ASAP. 📚✨
Somebody I Used to Love by Eve Ainsworth
3.75
I had zero expectations going into this book. I hadn’t seen it online but it seemed like my kind of book. It follows Gem and Will - will has an accident and wakes up asking for his girlfriend Gem, the only problem is that they broke up three years ago and he can’t remember. There was a lot to unpack in this book,
It wasn’t a typical romcom it was much more nuanced and more contemporary fiction I think! I enjoyed it though but it wasn’t my favourite

Swift and Saddled by Lyla Sage
4.0
I’ve read the first two books in this series a few weeks a part and if like me you’ve powered through Elsie Silvers back catalogue and now have a cowboy romance hole in your life I have just the series for you!
I loved these books! They feel a little more grown up than the Elsie Silver books but it could just be the covers! The characters a very likeable and the romance is swoony, they are 🔥 so be warned if that’s not your thing!
I found these really easy to binge read when you want to switch your brain off and will be picking up the rest of the series asap 😂
