Phenomenal read! From beginning to end. I felt like I was watching a movie, seriously.

A young adult book but I loved the story plot and how the author portrayed even the bad characters. She also built a strong storyline building up the tension and then having a quite unexpected ending.

A strong read but very long and dragged out.
I loved the history about it.
The authors lexicon is very very strong and intense which made it a slow read

I love when the titles of the book make their grand appearance in the book and connects the entire book/theme together. This tale of a young Nigerian girl growing up in a typical African household was really captivating and intriguing. Patience, the young girl, just wanted love. But she wanted it in right places. Throughout Patience's life, she made silly choices which then led to her demise but I enjoyed the journey of how Patience had to lose herself to then be able to find herself again.

Beautifully written!

Really good book! I felt every emotion that the FMC was going through. Not that I could relate, but the author did such a great job of emotional description and character development.

I love this book. I read it in one day. It was very lighthearted and informative. The only thing I did not like was the contradiction of religion.

I tend to not know what exactly makes a book a 5 for me..but this one definitely nailed it. It felt so good reading it. At the end, I was like "damn I want that."

Truly, I loved every bit of this romance. The drama Jules had to get through in order to finally meet her real king. The spicy romance made me crave some intimacy. & the full-circle moment of Black women getting exactly what they deserve which is TRUE love, and despite her at first being "SOMEBODY's WIFE."

Great story and history shared but I wasn’t blown away! I felt like the climax & the plot took too long to build up and it happened towards the middle of a book. I finally caught interest once I got to the middle of the audiobook and then I enjoyed it. I’ve heard so many other great stories that kept me entertained since the beginning about racial discrimination, segregation, and mass oppression in the 1900s
