I posted about this book a couple of weeks ago saying I was halfway through; yeah, I devoured the last part of this book.
Is it long? Oh my goodness, YES.

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

A Taylor Jenkins Reid (TJR) book set in the 80's? I am so there!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I could not get enough of this book. From the first chapter, I was hooked. TJR is a brilliant author and knows how to immerse her readers into all of her stories.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These four siblings and their journeys were real and raw. I can genuinely say I loved them all (although my girl Kitty def needs her own spin-off). Told from multiple points of views and dual timelines, TJR does a beautiful job bringing clarification on the jumpy journey.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This book touches on nostalgia, family dynamics, alcoholism, siblings, love, music, and the ocean. There were sudden turns, twisting plots, hidden secrets.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I laughed, I gasped, I cried.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have read a lot of TJR and I honestly think this one might be my new favorite

The Unraveling of Cassidy Holmes by Elissa R. Sloan
4.0
I am a huge fan of music and behind-the-scenes of famous musicians (blaming you, VH1 & Pop-Up Video).
Giving some serious kudos to author Elissa R. Sloan for a great debut novel. The reader is guided on the journey of four teenage pop stars and their rise to fame. This story looks at the darker side of the music industry in a wholly realistic fashion.
Told from multiple perspectives and dual timelines, there was a lot to digest with this book. I felt the depth of each of the four main characters - which can be so difficult for a writer to accomplish.
I enjoyed the early 2000's pop nostalgia that this book brought as well as odes to early reality TV shows like "American Idol" when it first aired.
I will say at the end I literally yelled, "No!!! Are you serious?" So take that however way you'd like...

Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

This is the second book in the Bromance Bookclub Series and made for a great buddy read with one of my book besties.
It was great to have Gavin and Thea pop in but now it's time for Mack and Thea's sister Liv's story.
I fell in love with this group of guys in Book 1 and my love for them continued to grow in Book 2. Mack is definitely a love or hate kind of guy. I have seen a lot of bookstagrammers who did not enjoy this one because they didn't like Mack. While I can understand that point of view (he can be kind of a d-bag), I loved watching him grow.
The side characters in the book were also amazing. The Russian and Hop were my favorites and both need their own books!
If you are a Chuck Bass fan, you'll probably love Mack - so read the book

Make Up Break Up by Lily Menon

Oh my gosh, what a delightful little read!
This book is about two competing app companies:
- Make Up: a Google Translate mediator for couples needing help with communication patterns. The company is run by Annika Dev.
- Break Up: Uber for dumping someone. The company is run by Hudson Craft.
We've got frenemies to lovers trope (which are always fun) in this Hallmark-style novel. The audiobook for this was fantastic and it was a quick read.
Read if you're looking for something light-hearted, feel-good, or not overly steamy romance.
Thank you @macmillan.audio for this #gifted audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
