This is such an interesting concept for a book! It's unexpected and funny and heartwarming. A wonderful reminder of the little things that build a life and relationships.

I really enjoyed this book and it's well written and well researched, and Dunant clearly enmeshed herself in Renaissance Florence very well. I really appreciate writing the story the way it was meant to play out and not trying to make readers happy by giving Alessandra the perfect, ideal ending. It was more realistic and true to the time and to the character.

I watched the movie when it first came out, but had forgotten who the narrator was. I think it's brilliant to tell the story through Jack's perspective.

This was a great book, but it was very hard to get into. I was about 40% through and almost stopped reading because I didn't care about the characters or where they were going, but i am very glad I continued reading and gave it a chance! If it weren't for that it would be a 5 star read I think!

I liked this one better than the second. I really liked how the author stayed true to the story with little additions that could be true
like the planned duel with Burr in 1785

Good book, but not as good as the first and a little dragging at times. It felt like not much reallyyyyy happened. AND Eliza lost some of her nerve! I understand Alex has to work hard to win a case, but Eliza never really confronted him about putting her so low on his priority list. She says something once and is clearly annoyed a few times, but by the end of the book she pretends everything has always been fine and peachy because she's proud of his success. She can be proud of his success and still recognize the sacrifices he was making hurt her. I'd like to have seen better communication from both of them, but especially Eliza to Alex.

I don't normally enjoy YA anymore but this book didn't feel too young for me! It still hits my emotions and the historical aspects were very well done.
