This was a great book. As someone who considers myself fairly “woke” to social issues (though admittedly through a very limited lens as a white person) I found the perspective shift of looking at the history of racism in America through the lens of caste system very valuable and informative. All of that is to say… I’m about to be INSUFFERABLE at my conservative family’s thanksgiving dinners and for that Miss Wilkerson, I thank you.

Wow! I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book given some of the themes/ trigger warnings but I ended up hooked! And for a book that you pick up for the spice i actually got so invested in the plot! I’m not a degradation girly so I didn’t know if I’d like it, and while there definitely were some moments that were simply not my cup of tea I did really enjoy this book overall.
Note: PLEASE read the content and trigger warnings. There are some very heavy things covered in this book. Emphasis on the dubious consent and CSA references, both were pretty intense.
This book was a wild ride
We’ve got:
•billionaire
•sex club
•sister who has zero boundaries 😂
•selling her v card
•amnesia
•kidnapped and kept in a sex dungeon
•KINKYYYY shit
•big time degradation
•objects in orafaces that don’t belong there 😂
• dark dark dark pasts
There are also a lot of intense mental health topics covered that I think stasia handled quite well.

I didn’t think it was bad but I didn’t feel like I was learning anything. It just felt like a book of examples of patriarchal double standards, but I don’t need more examples of how the world is unfair to us I need to know what to do about it.
