Good writing and characters but I had absolutely no idea what the hell was going on at any point.
Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn

I’m a little torn on this one. On the one hand, there really isn’t anything in this book that I haven’t heard before. It’s a testament to this book and the movement the author is a part of that mindfulness and meditation have become such a ubiquitous part of our culture. I’m on a journey to heal my attention span after years of being fried from video games and social media and this book offered some good advice. I liked how it wasn’t a self help book. The author explained well how important mindfulness is to making the most of your life. As someone who has tried meditation before and gotten frustrated about “nothing happening,” I found this to be a helpful reminder about what you are supposed to “get” out of meditating. I also found it insightful how he described meditation as helping a person weather the emotional storms of their lives. At the same time, it was way, way, too repetitive. In my opinion, it’s best to put mindfulness into practice as soon as possible if you’re trying to make a habit of it.
