this was a lot of fun! I loved their dynamic and how it was rivals to lovers but in a friendly way. though I am excited for the next book which is definitely a hate to love situation

it's so weird, because I did enjoy this book, just like all the DO books.... but for some reason once I got to the last 100 pages the last thing I wanted to read was this book. the last thing I wanted to do was read at all. the biggest slump hit me here at these last 100 pages.

I honestly think it's because I have nothing to say. this was fun and quirky, but it won't stay in my mind longer than last week

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
immediately no. the book opens with pages and pages of snarky info dumping. the main character gives not like other girls in the stalest 2014 way, which I would forgive had it been published in that year. it wasn't.

despite this cover being atrocious, I had an absolute blast. yes, it is super unrealistic blah blah blah- you guys just don't like fun!! I like to have a good time when I read a romcom, and that's what this book gave me. and there's 0 miscommunication??? a win in my book

This book is like trying to play stardew valley where you get 15 seconds of sunlight and then it gets dark and you’re stressed and you can’t do anything + zombies (?)

not that I was an Emily Henry hater, but I definitely wasn't one of The Girlies. her books didn't really intrigue me and I gave PWMOV a try and thought it was very mid. but I really liked this one!!

their banter was so fantastic, and I am just so obsessed with Charlie's dry humor. I really liked their romance, too. they were just so cute and the ending really had me kicking my feet.

I know this book has haters. I just don't think y'all knew what this book was going into though. mind you, this is my first Allison Saft book, so I didn't have any preconceived notions about how her books usually go. but this was a cozy fantasy book. so it held traits of a cozy fantasy book.

yeah, nothing really happened. because it's a cozy fantasy. it's vibes and romance. and I was vibing with the romance.

did it copy Bridgerton with the anonymous gossip column? maybe. idc though

also literally every character was just casually queer. other than the dramatics of us Queers, it was not actually a main part of these characters' lives, and it was really refreshing.

yeah, the ending was kinda easy. but again, it was a cozy fantasy.

moral of the story, read this if you like cozy fantasy.
