it's not even necessarily that this book was bad, I just get it. I get the point. I don't need to read any more and I won't gain any more.

deception! I was deceived!
this book is so front loaded that it's disrespectful. a lot happens in the first half, not even at an insane pace, that I expected that all throughout. the second we hit part two..... crickets. literally nothing else happens. even when we get to the end, the last page mind you, and we get that fantasy book cliff hanger to make you read the next one it was lame. I read it and I was just like ".... okay? so more of the same bullshit with a slight twist"
also, this published reylo fanfic is much more aggressively reylo than others. like I don't really see much in The Love Hypothesis other than their looks as someone who has simply seen the movies.... but damn this one is VERY much so reylo. the plot is of course different, or as much as high fantasy/sci fi can be. (who said that?) but these characters do not often feel their own. I am saying this as a critique, but not one I necessarily care about as someone who picked up a romantasy book on purpose. I'm really only mentioning it bc the girlies get mad at these reylos for some reason

The on and offedness of it all was pretty annoying tbh but overall it was still enjoyable
Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward

Honestly i really just didn’t care. These were some of the most boring protagonists ever and please don’t ask me to describe either of them bc all i’ve got is cancer

as someone whose favorite horror subgenre is expedition/exploration horror, this was a great time. the pacing is exactly as someone who likes the genre would expect, so any review claiming otherwise just doesn't know the genre. this is definitely my favorite Darcy Coates that I've read and I'm a little sad to know this is really outside her typical books.
