honestly I just did not vibe with this from the very start. we were introduced to entirely too many characters to begin with and I guess I never got over that. every time I picked this up I would be on my phone within like a page. slightly concerning because while I attempted to read this on Kindle Unlimited (meaning I didn't buy it directly), I have purchased Gwen and Art Are Not in Love so I hope I jive with that one a lot more
don't get me wrong, Meryl Wilsner can still do no wrong.... but this is a me problem. #1 I don't know shit about professional soccer or the levels of teamage. this book does expect you to and will absolutely not explain. #2 I feel like there relationship was going to be repetitive since they had a 20 TWENTY page sex scene like 30 pages in and honestly what more could you do?
soooo this book was pretty decent, but it just felt so long. I definitely feel like it could have been a 300-350 page book instead of the full 400 and been just fine. I also felt slightly duped bc it was pretty funny at the beginning but then kinda stopped. the disrespect. BUT it's gonna be a queer series so I guess I'll give it that, not that I'm 100% on continuing
it's not that I didn't like the first book, but I didn't love it. now I read the first one physically and this one digitally so it may have something to do with it, because the long chapters really got to me for the first one.
I also feel like we learned so much more about the love interest of this book than the first one, like who even is Hex I don't know anything about him. I wasn't sure if I would even read this one but I'm glad I conveniently had KU and was looking for a St. Pat's day book at this time.
soooooo I didn't super read the description bc it's Alexis Henderson and I was gonna read it.... which means I missed the tiny line that hinted at a professor/student relationship. that's never something I've enjoyed reading but now that I'm a teacher it is something I actively avoid. I'll catch you with the next one, Alexis!
honestly I am just bored. the characters meet on page 1 of 569 and the plot starts immediately, but for a book of this page count there is just a whole lot of nothing since then. this book is about healing and trauma, which I feel like has been done well so far, but I just can't do this for this long
