my first Darcy Coates, and even though I didn't love it, it won't be my last. I just think this shorter one didn't work for me surprisingly. I didn't love the supernatural twist, and I didn't like the last chapter wrap up
I can't. I can't with male writing styles. I can't with the sexist ass 'femme fatale' character. and other reviewers also say there is fatphobia and racism too.
but about what I personally read with the sexism. Moore is not a person. she is a man's idea of a femme fatale. Moore you will never be Jennifer from Jennifer's Body. anyway she writes naked? what? that was about the last thing I could tolerate.
really disappointed because I've been hyping myself for this book for so long and I was so quickly let down. I didn't even get to the haunted house!! but it just cannot be worth it.
anyway if you made it this far feel free to recommend me haunted house books that aren't this one!
The way I didn’t realize this was a series so as I got closer and closer to the end I’m just sitting here like “where is this going???” Only to be met with a to be continued
this was a swift one. it seemed like a fun tee-hee concept, but once I started reading it I realized it's actually just kind of disgusting. yeah, I could have used the teeniest bit of critical thinking and figured that out well before I started reading it but obviously i didn't. I hate using the "but what if the roles were reversed" thing but actually think about that.
this did absolutely nothing for me. I was hoping for a campy horror comedy, but that's not what I got. it was not funny at all. and there was a bunch of offensive language that would have been normal in the 80s, but this is a modern book. it seemed like he just wanted an excuse to be offensive which is VERY side eye
