This book's chapters are shared between a sentient island, the story and the transcript from the courtroom proceedings.

Though I love the idea of a book having an island as a main character, these chapters felt jarring amongst the stilted courtroom narrative and thus rather spoiled.

The story as a whole just felt a little stale? The ending was very clear from the start and nothing really happened. Again, the ideas behind it of being a woman are worthwhile but the way they're portrayed was a little dry. I really struggled to finish this and I'm sure I'll swiftly forget it.

Build a Body Like Mine
The ending had me laughing with the way it's sold. I also liked the 'where have you been to get a tapeworm!?' 'Um, Sheffield maybe?' bit 😂

The Problem Solver
Urgh. F***ing men.

She's Always Hungry
Atmospheric and creepy.
⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Shadow Over The Chitaly
Absolutely unhinged and very funny. It felt like it was building to the punchline of an Aunty Donna sketch.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hollow Bones
My favourite so far. A deliciously creepy sci-fi that I couldn't wait to recommend to my partner. I want to know more!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Goth GF
This had me laughing and shaking my head at the ending. It's not that it was funny funny, just *sigh*.
⭐⭐⭐⭐

Extinction Event
It feels utterly real and exactly how awful humans would react to the situation.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nightstalkers
A bit of nothing. No real suspense and the ending was a little eh.
⭐⭐

Shake Well
Creepy and weird. I'll probably be thinking about the ending for a while. It reminds me of the film The Substance, though I haven't seen that film yet.
⭐⭐⭐⭐

The King
Silly good fun. Good enough that I read it twice.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Company Man
Confusingly good and odd.

I saw another review which said hat if this had been written a hundred years ago, it'd be a classic now. The Hounding tells a slow, winding story of a group of sisters. The villagers say they turn into dogs. Their guardian, their grandfather, says they're free spirited but grieving. But what's true?

It's a creepy tale as much about the inner thoughts of the men of the village as it is about the girls.

Definitely one to read! Thank you for the eARC.

This is such a lovely end to a gorgeous series! This book starts up immediately after the end of the last book.

In this book, we gain a much deeper understanding of the fairy realm. It feels like a gentler book than the first two and whilst it sums up the series nicely, could we ever not want to remain in this world?

Something I love is that Wendell's personality doesn't change to fit the 'MMC Fae romance' role. He remains utterly and imperfectly himself.

A fun idea but most of the comic strips fell flat for me. I thought maybe it was that I'd read most of the books mentioned, but it didn't seem to be any different from those I hadn't. They just seemed to be lacking a little something but when your limiting yourself to often no more than a short sentence, it must be hard to summarise everything so consisely and make it into a comic.

When I started this, I thought the world building was great. It seemed like it could be something fresh and I was looking forward to reading it.

Then, I stopped reading it for a week and... I just wasn't feeling it anymore? The fantasy names introduced were too much to remember and the characters never seemed to develop further than they had in those first few pages.

I've seen several reviewers saying that it gets good at the 50-70% mark but I didn't get there. Maybe I'll try to finish it at some point but not anytime soon.

So, it's a DNF for me right now. It wasn't great, it wasn't terrible.

A very basic introduction guide to witchcraft aimed at beginners.

The book begins with simple two pages spreads introducing the ideas of things are like 'balms'. This was done in a way that sometimes felt they were trying to fill space as some of the things felt they were obvious, even for a beginner. But maybe not.

The formatting made it very difficult to read as an ebook so maybe that's why I didn't gel with it properly.

Its definitely an aesthetically pleasing book that I can see being popular in a millennial/gen z baby witch crowd but not something that I can see myself revisiting.
