Very gripping in spite of a slow start. Some arcs were a little boring, but overall, it's a great book. One of the best yet in this series, I think. Ending was bittersweet.

This was... intteresting. 4 only because it was too short. Was a strange, nightmarish tale with someunexpted twists. And some expected ones which still catch you off guard.

This was a TRIP. Starts off normal, and slowly builds up the crazy. I am still blown away by it!
Also, it has fucking DOLLS. Gets freaky as hell. One of King's best works, I think! GO READ!

I had read two of the novellas in this book before, standalone, in different points in my life. This was the first time I read them all back to back. This set was a background second read over the course of two months or so, while i burned through other books like the Bosch series. I wanted to let it stew. I must admit, parts of Apt Pupil were stewing a little too much. It picked up, however, and hurtled to a sudden wtf ending which was kinda fitting, and helped me get the pace back to finish the rest of the book.
Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption was a very good suspense/slice-of-life story that had you questioning everything. Having seen the movie before reading this book, my mind kept conjuring up the actors in the places of the characters, and that probably did not fit their description all the time, but it was close enough. I think I enjoyed the book more, but I would rate the movie as a fucking mental adaptation. The movie itself is quite spectacular, and I feel it did justice to the story in parts, but I can see why it might not have dwelt on other parts like the story does. Do consume both. Multiple times. There are layers. I found myself noticing things I missed last time I read it. I will come back another time for sure.
Apt Pupil was honestly a little hum-drum, kinda too "mainstream no-particular-genre" in the beginning. I hate these kinda books, and would not really jump to pick them up. But it switches tracks to a thriller halfway, hahaha, with a strange kind of suspense hanging in the air. A kind of will-they/won't-they thing. And not the usual kind of will-they/won't-they thing, which would be extremely weird here. As it is, the relationship is quite fucked up on its own. Like I said before, I liked how the pace picks up, and the ending was nice.
The Body. Oh man. I loved it the first time I read it. And I loved it even more this time. I was worried I'd recall too much of it, since it had not been too long since I last read it, but, it still hooked me and surprised me. A coming-of-age tale with horror elements. And so many questions that are left for you to work out or ponder over. Also makes you think about the futility of some choices and struggles in life, and the inevitability of some events. Quite fucked up to be honest.
The Breathing Method was like a back to basics, classic horror tale with unsettling elements of the fear of the unknown. And good old gore and supernatural, but I think this unknown factor is more scary. Loved it! Put me in the mind to read some lovecraftian stuff next.
I think this will be a book I will come back to multiple times even though it is not like King's usual horrorr stuff.

I didn't think things could get darker after A Darkness More Than Nightm but they do. This one was heart-rending. Luck, the system, family, friends, everyone failed the vic. It was actually difficult to continue because it was painful. Not for the faint of heart. Was good getting back to Bosch's PoV, and he delivers.

The crossover episode! A better crossover than the MCU. Multiple POVs, tight, nail biting plot and the good old darkness which knows no depths, where humans are worse than any ficitonal monster you can think of. Beautiful Absolutely beautiful.
Void Moon by Michael Connelly
Was in initially a little hesitant about a new character's POV, but the other new characters have been decent, so, I stuck with it and it was worth it. It might start a little slow, but it picks up fast and gets better every page. Highly recommend! Was nice to get a perpsective from the other side of the law, too!

Riveting. Grips you and doesn't let go. Very easy to burn through. And yes, it is just THAT GOOD.

Absolutely nail-biting! Burned through it and would have easily sat and finished it over two days if I had th time. Another brutal tale that has you gripping the edge of your seat as you dive into a dark, unforgiving 90's LA, with a lot of heart surgery aftermath. Scratches my medical itch, too.

Was interesting in the beginning, got a little meh in between. Okay, very boring. And probably too long. Was very easy to put down, I feel. Plot and pace picked up towards the end with threads coming together to... er... form a... rope? Basically, things come together, literally, and some questions are answered. I still have some more, but I somehow am not really too curious about them.
