This book truly had it ALL! I laughed, I gasped, I swooned. No notes 📝 The author absolutely smashed it again with her sophomore novel!

Read if you like:

• Family drama mysteries
• Elements of a love story
• Quick reads with short chapters
• Audiobooks narrated by Julia Whelan

This is the first book I’ve read from this author (I own and haven’t read TLTHTM). I found it to be a quick read (finished in one day) and loved that Julia Whelan narrates the audiobook. There isn’t anything major that necessarily happens in this book, but it was still a decent read. I’ve read that this author’s books are usually mislabeled as thrillers and I can confirm that they are NOT. If you go into it with realistic expectations, you might enjoy it. For me, it was ok but most likely forgettable long-term.

Thank you to Simon & Schuster for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Read if you like:

• Elizabethan era historical fiction
• Stories about strong, resilient women
• Learning more about the history of Shakespeare’s plays
• Dual timelines/POVs
• Thiccc books

I really enjoyed all of the historical references and learning about the life and story of Emilia Bassano. I liked the Elizabethan timeline, but I found myself gravitating more toward the modern timeline and the story within the story that developed with the other MC, Melina. I don’t want to give anything away, but as someone who knew very little about Shakespeare’s plays and how/who they came from, I learned a TON from this story.

To literally no one’s shock, another book from this author that grabbed me from the first page and didn’t let go until the last. ♥️ This is such a special story that has so many layers and nuances that unfold throughout the book. The characters are all so complex and beautiful. Although it’s a small part, I enjoyed the mystery element intertwined in the overall story. Without giving anything away, the ending of the book is such perfection. 🥹
