Gothic fantasy just does it for me. Overall a fun sexy read, solid plot, nice prose and lovable characters. I liked how it was really unpredictable and the romance was really hot but sweet.

The smuttiest book I've ever read. A fun read, decent amount of worlbuilding and backstory. I liked it mostly for the hunky vampire men and the sexy scenes though.

Overall a fun read. I liked the later half better as Tress started growing as a character. The setting is very inventive and interesting and even though it took me a while to get used to it, the way it is narrated by

was witty and charming. Some of the themes in the book and many of the passages and lines really resonated with me. Beautifully done by Mr. Sanderson. I can't help but compare it to his other works I've read and that is the main reason it only gets 4 stars.

Though it is well written and starts off very interesting, I didn't find myself immersed in the story. I had an issue with Rin, as in I didn't like her because she seemed to always be whining (I had the audiobook edition, so maybe it was the way it was read?). I usually like all the themes in this book, but the vibes just weren't there for me. I don't think I'll continue this series.
