Elena is back at home after her tumultuous vacation, but not for long. She heads off on yet another mission in Germany and faces a lot of unknowns, including stumbling into the hotel where the Night of Long Knives kicks off.
While Elena is off doing cool MI6 things, we see the resurgence of her sister's friend, who married a Nazi officer. Even Elena's grandfather pops in to help things get sorted.
I can't wait for the next one!

The more I read about Elena Standish, the more envious of her life I become.
In this book, she sets off on yet another adventure, meeting new family members and people. On what should be a vacation, Elena faces new challenges with high confidence. Her wit, intelligence and stubbornness get her through, but not without a little emotional jostling.
Is her maternal grandfather who she thinks he is? What about his friends? With Europe on the brink of war, why is America deciding to be so stubborn about doing the right thing?

Short version: You won't learn many new things by reading the book, but listening to the author read it was quite a delight.
Long version: This was a well-written, overhyped book. The leaking of a few chapters didn't encourage or discourage me from reading, and while they were taken out of context most of the time, the full stories weren't as exciting or evocative.
Prince Harry broke this book into three sections, with many short chapters. He started talking about his teenage years and reflecting on the loss of his mother and his relationship with his father and brother. The second section was about his time in the military -- which I found most fascinating. He ended it with the last 4-5 years, meeting his wife, having children, leaving the royal family, etc.
My opinion of Prince Harry remains the same after reading the book. Though I understand more why some of the challenges he faced were that gard for him, but wouldn't be for the rest of us.

This book was chock full of great information. The beginning was a bit slow and there were a lot of details. A few parts were cumbersome to read. And way too many $5 words.

I've thoroughly enjoyed following the adventures of Jack Reece, particularly listening to them. The narrator does a wonderful job, and the writing is specific but not boring. I'm eager to move on to the next adventure of Jack & Katie and hope it's as detailed and suspenseful as this one.

Another fantastic read; I loved learning more about the Churchill family dynamics, as well as the interaction between the Germans and the British. Larson weaves them together in a way that has you caring about characters on all sides, even when you know they are doing wrong. The British people were amazingly strong and inspirational during this year of the Blitz.

I really liked how this book smashed quite a few stereotypes. Well written, as always, and a bit different from there others in this series.

I’m very glad I finished this book, even though it wasn’t “pulling me in” from the beginning. It was all tied up nicely and I enjoyed the characters and their journeys.
