Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by Todd Burpo

The follow-up to Divergent does not disappoint. I read this book in less than two days, and it is 525 pages. I couldn't put it down. Those who enjoy the romance between Tris and Tobias may be slightly disappointed throughout the book, as they both struggle with their grief and keep secrets from each other. I won't give away the ending, but I will say that it does a great job of leaving you on the edge of your seat and wanting to dive straight into the third book in the series. If only it wasn't more than a year away from coming out. If you can't stand waiting, you may want to hold off reading this until you can get your hands on the third book (which is yet to be named).

I would probably give this 3.5 stars. Honestly, I preferred the sequels to the first book in this series. It is very slow to start, and the lack of background of the characters makes it hard to really root for them and be attached. But once the action starts to pick up, it is entertaining. And wanting to know what is going on overrides the lack of character development. Although I would not call this book amazing or fantastic, it was good enough to make me read the second and third installments in the series, so that says something.

I liked this book better than the first. Although I was a little more attached to the characters because of everything we've seen them go through, there is still a lack of development. I understand this though, because none of them have very much memory. Once again a drive to know what is going on and who WICKED is really is what keeps you going. The action is more evenly paced than the last book though, and we are introduced to a few more characters. This was definitely a page-turner, and kept me intrigued. The ending did not do as a good a job as the first book did to entice me to read the next one in the series, but of course I had to find out what happens in the end.
