The Death Cure by James Dashner

I read several reviews before picking up this book, and none of them were favorable. I have to say though, I don't know what everyone's problem is. Sure, you'll be disappointed if you were pulling for Thomas and Teresa. But after what happened in Book 2, I didn't really care if they got together or not. Plus, romance doesn't really seem realistic when the end of the world is literally at your fingertips. I enjoyed this installment of the Maze Runner series. A lot of reviews I read said the ending was not what they expected or hoped for, but I didn't really have any expectations. It's kind of like what Thomas says multiple times: WICKED has done so many unbelievable things, you can't really predict what's going to come next. As long as you go in with that attitude, I think you'll like this book. It was exciting and entertaining with plenty of suspenseful moments, and there is a bit of a happy ending ... at least as much as you can expect out of a series like this.

I would give this 3 1/2 stars if that was an option. It's hard to explain how I feel about this book. I liked it; I did. And I plan on reading the rest of the books in the series. But for some reason it was not as captivating to me as other dystopian novels I've read (like the Divergent and Delirium series). A lot of it seemed repeated, but I also didn't find myself invested in the love story. I don't want to give anything away, but it just progressed a lot differently than I expected, or even hoped for. A friend said I would get into the second book more, so I'm hoping that happens. I really want to love the Matched series, but something is just holding me back.
