What a heart warming read! I loved the message of this book though I will say poor Linus Baker haha his knees popping and his round belly getting mentioned 4000 times, 40 isn’t old… it’s the new 30

Ve Schwab is one of the best and this book didn’t disappoint. I loved the antihero getting his revenge and I found the plot to be so refreshing and complex! I’m not giving it a 5 star because I felt the origin of the EOs came about super randomly for his thesis, and would love to discuss this more with others to hear their thoughts about why Eli just decided on exploring the concept of extraordinary beings. Maybe this will be discussed in the next book?

Natalie Haynes paints such a beautiful picture of Ancient Greece, her writing evokes such emotion and paints such a vivid picture of exactly what is being described in each scene that as a reader you are blown away. As far as retellings of Greek mythology, there is tragedy upon tragedy, but Haynes does a successful job in her modern take of Oedipus that it didn’t feel too doom and gloom when I finished. As always I liked how she managed to bring the focus and life into the female characters of the mythologies who were only ever given a second glance. Loved it and can’t wait to read more of her works!

3.5- I actually would’ve given this a 4 star if we didn’t have the addition of two new POVS of Midas and his wife. They were characters in the first book and it would’ve been better if they’d had their own pov from the get go ( in my opinion). I also couldn’t have cared less about the queens pov.
