Very nice magical academia read, although there is a lot of emphasis on the suffering of the first year students, and the story isn’t new as such, it’s nice to listen to while doing a cozy hobby, the studio narrate is really good and one doesn’t need to be 100% concentrated on it to follow the story. I did like the character and friendship development and the three factions, as well as the setting reminded me of Hogwarts only with bad teachers who stay two dimensional in the book.

The quintessential dark academia book, much like the secret society, but about music instead of literature and philosophy. The writing and pacing is excellent, each scene comes to life for all senses, the reader becomes part of the tight circle of friends, as if you were there to experience it all with them. The ending is clear, inevitable from the start, but it’s not about the ending, it’s about the way there, and for Oscar, the main character, it’s a wonderful way, one that lifts him from a aimless and dreary life into a strong and solid sense of self and of the strength of his character. In that way, the book has a happy ending that is very worth reading and understanding.

Super cozy low stakes take of a librarian finding a family with the help of her books and talking plant. Wonderful feel good book, audio version is also very good with a great voice actress.

The story is repetitive and the main character doesn’t seem to have learned and it got too dark for me.

THE autumn & dark academia book!  Much better than the already great TV series. Wonderful writing, pacing, depth and story arc, and so atmospheric.
